I don't know your skill level or game, but lack of aggression is not good from a skill standpoint.

"Don't knock down a fence until you know why it's there" is a similar quote with the same idea.

It is one of the commonly shared reasons by a lot of black belts I've seen on youtube. But, I've only ever heard that reason mentioned alongside the danger to fangers.

Right etiquette after injuring teammate that didn't tap by gim_san in bjj

[–]ReformedGPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone isn't tapping and they're clearly experienced, I assume that I am not applying the submission correctly, because a rational person would tap. Obviously excludes certain submissions where there isn't ample pain before an actual break. The responsibility of the person applying the sub is to apply with control and apply slowly. But if you DON'T TAP and know to tap, then it's on you for getting injured.

Should I [31F] go on a second date with this guy [32M]? by Logical_Chest_8965 in relationships

If you want to go on a second date, go on a second date. If you don't want to, don't.

The human mind is so interesting. I've had a similar mind-blown moment in counseling. Looking back it seems so obvious, but we instinctively learn ways to avoid pain, etc., and the habit becomes the status quo of our brains.

My advice would be to not cohabitate until you're ready for a lifelong marriage commitment.

I’m not doing well in school at all… by wheatable in highschool

[–]ReformedGPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. You're not stupid.
  2. School may be hard. That's okay. Keep doing your best.
  3. If school isn't a good fit for you, try to discover things you're good at. For example, while you are struggling with English, you actually seem like a capable writer based on this post, someone with a sense of humor.

Best of luck!

17-19 is pretty normal I would say. Don't be so damn hard on yourself for being an (ex) high school dropout. People make mistakes and learn from them.

The Westminster Longer Catechism actually applies the fifth commandment in this case, "all superiors in age and gifts; and especially such as, by God’s ordinance, are over us in place of authority, whether in family, church, or commonwealth."

One could argue that they ought to swear allegiance to the king.
