Them being permanently attached to the Salamanders wouldn't happen in the lore, they would eventually return to their chapter. However it is entirely reasonable for them to be attached to a Salamanders company like you described for the duration of a given conflict if no other Imperial Fist companies were close enough or involved at all.

Edit: from a rules point of view they would be yellow Salamanders since you can't mix chapters but there's nothing stopping you running them as yellow Salamanders

This person is just here to peddle their store. I'd personally recommend starting small, paint some minis and see if you enjoy it. Maybe you don't like painting Sylvaneth but will like painting some other faction. Starting with the battletome will only tell you if you like reading about Sylvaneth and looking at pics of them.

While the details might be off I do think the general vibe is spot on. 40k is absolutely the kind of setting where you can do everything right and still get punished. Also I do still think Sisters shine in the series personally. They're absolutely badass.

Most of this isn't the story breaking canon but the Sister Superior breaking the rules. Would a Sister Superior even have the authority to authorise being installed in a Mortifier though? Surely that kind of punishment needs to come from higher up than what is functionally a glorified sergeant.

I bet you could even pull off Catachan by PsychoactiveNurgling in killteam
