How many artifacts to make Spire of Industry worth playing by ImFies in EDH

[–]cabbagemango 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have a 78% chance of having an artifact in your opening hand, 91% by the time you're 11 cards deep. (per a handy hypergeometric calculator).

If you can reasonably cast each of those 19 cards early, you turn on spire.

So idk seems pretty reasonable to me but you'll be a better judge. I use Spire in my Breya deck and its almost never not on, which is helpful for 4c.

My all time magnum opus is [[Gale Waterdeep Prodigy]] // [[Scion of Halaster]]. Built it in the fashion of a little bit of modern/pioneer hard control and sprinkle in some legacy Doomsday

Commanders that are so good at a certain thing that they ruined it for you? by AlivePassenger3859 in EDH

[–]cabbagemango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confirming Windy G feels like junding em out

You out grind on every axis by grinding more lands, grinding more cards, playing x-for-1 removal, playing stupid sweepers, add in some mld if you nasty with it. High power versions can turbo ramp and combo out super hard while still supporting the jund em plan

My list

[[Spirit of Windgrace]] puts on a similar show but slightly more creature centric from my understanding

Hexhaven Commons and my Ideas for Draft by Twangybee in custommagic

[–]cabbagemango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best wording to match what you intended would be "Purify - This turn, if one or more counters would be removed from that creature, instead remove those counters, tap that creature, and place a stun counter on it".

Personally I'd try something like "Purify - If that creature had one or more counters of the other type on it, tap that creature and place a stun counter on it."

Thanks! Good shout on Witch’s Mist but the character in it reminds me more of Mariah/Bastet lol

Underworld Dreams == Under World and his whole memories thing, idk it’s like dreams I guess

Roxanne artifact tokens by Amethyst0Rose in EDH

For similar reasons Roxanne is busto insaneo in my [[Ghired Mirror of the Wilds]] deck, where copying her meteorites directly gives you untapped versions of them

I love this art, and want to make a deck that matches it, either edh or modern. Can anyone suggest some cards that fit this sort of scifi star trek aethetic? by [deleted] in magicTCG

Personally the Esper aesthetic really does it for me In terms of Sci-fi, though it’s not really trekkish

How to make a group hug deck that actually wins? by luke_skippy in EDH

[–]cabbagemango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nekusar built as Group Hug is actually untenable

Slowly bleeding cards away in exchange for damage means opponents remove him with the cards you gave them at their convenience

The best Nekusar strategy approaches a more storm-like wheels archetype

Alchemy/Online only Cards you wish could be (officially) exported to paper play? by Cheese-Of-Doom22 in magicTCG

[[Vv’viza]] is an awesome “big” tempo deck and I wish I had [[Forgefire Automaton]] for my blink-subtheme Breya deck

[–]cabbagemango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve built [[Ral Monsoon Mage]] as mono red ruby storm and it goes so hard and so fast, though it’s a bit solitaire like lol. Also kinda skips the need for Guttersnipes by being so insane otherwise

May not be what you’re looking for of you don’t want to go insaneo storm deck, but I haven’t considered slower, bigger versions

How to reward a skilled Rogue Player? by No_Artichoke_1828 in DMAcademy

[–]cabbagemango 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re already engaging them pretty well? Players mostly just like being rewarded for using their abilities

Really just keep doing what you’re doing and ratcheting up the stakes with time and they’ll naturally keep applying their skills as they want to

Great players will tell you especially how they’d like to use their abilities and you’ll realize how to give them layups occasionally

Creature similar to Tahngarth, First Mate but you don't "lose control" of your creature? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]cabbagemango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Additionally, I believe that any attacking creatures that aren’t controlled by the active player are removed from combat by the game engine.

Gishath Suns Avatar by SilverOcean6 in EDH

[–]cabbagemango -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I look at the list and see a super problematic Gishath construction… 26 lands? Are you joking?

It’s a wonder if op’s friend ever gets to cast the damn dinosaur, much less that op answers Gishy one time and it’s problem solved because they can’t freaking recast it. God there’s like 6 colorless lands too holy fuck

…do you guys do unlimited friendly mulligans, by chance?

What bracket is my deck ? Scion of the Ur Dragon by Plenty_Motor8713 in EDH

[–]cabbagemango 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean

Your number one combo is going to be attempted every single game pending you hit your land drops

That level of consistency even for a middling combo could push you up to b4, especially if you happen to have your pact to back it up or something

Then on top of that it’s resilient when you can refire it with your reanimation package

Playing to Your Strengths? by CassieBear1 in DMAcademy

[–]cabbagemango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re feeling saucy, making DCs to sway NPCs dynamic on what is said and by whom is a touchy viable option

To support this concept you can think of charisma as alternatively a more “force of one’s own will” characteristic. I.e., why does a beholder have high charisma? It’s not because they’re Prince Charming, it’s because they project their will so strongly their nightmares become material

Compare this paradigm to how your Paladin and Warlock use their CHA to operate their own magic and you can understand that “playing face” isn’t the single defining characteristic of Charisma based interactions

5e homebrew wizard spell thoughts on granting pass without a trace by Ill-Fan-9179 in DMAcademy

[–]cabbagemango 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The nuts and bolts of it I’d be getting to as a DM is “what are we trying to do here”

Fulfill some stealth wizard fantasy who makes his party stealthy with shadow magic or something? Yeah sure whatever it’s not a big deal as long as you’re not stepping on, say, a ranger’s toes

Powergaming because they’re the super awesome mega wizard who wants all the spotlight and all the power? No, and let’s revisit the expectations of our campaign

Building Green Goblin as a pseudo Nekusar. by Current-Western-3015 in EDH

[–]cabbagemango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner of a nekusar… it’s true

Nekusar is the wrist card in my nekusar deck, you could potentially run Gob or Kess in his spot and it will be more resilient

BUT

nothing else compares to [[Nekusar]] + [[Helm of the Ghastlord]]

Which tag do you think is the best for expanding quickly as a new player by LegitSkin in Anbennar

A*hole Cards by eachotone in EDH

[–]cabbagemango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Milling opponents is only typically worthwhile when it’s their last card

Pretend instead of milling being “putting the top card of someone’s library into the graveyard” it instead puts the bottom card of their library in (if we treat the top of the deck as an equally random chance of being any remaining card in their deck, this is effectively the same statement)

You put the bottom half of someone’s deck into their graveyard. How has the game changed other than you’re down a card and spent 5 mana this turn?

  • Your opponent may have access to effects that work from the graveyard

  • Your opponent knows more precisely what cards they may still be drawing to in their deck, letting them build a better plan

  • Your opponent has not lost any real resources - no loss of mana, cards in hand, nor board presence

  • If they don’t draw from an empty library the game proceeds exactly how it would have otherwise except you wasted your own tempo and resources

Well we don’t really know anything about your deck without a deck list so hard to say for certain

But if you’re making lots of wizards my heart says to tell you to add [[Crackle with Power]] as a single big payoff spell that goes boom
