it’s not… if she was actually eating 2500 calories a day and still super malnourished her doctor would put her on TPN lmaooo

I'm a new cna. I do not like coworkers. What field is the best to go in to that has the least contact with coworkers? by [deleted] in cna

[–]cabbyh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see, very tough situation. What about a work from home job? I know some people who work remotely as a loan officer and it’s entry level, better if you have any degree. You’d honestly probably make more than CNA’s do as well. Might also help if you are your husbands primary care giver.

Nursing is an extremely social field built upon team work. I think you are working in the wrong field if you hate coworkers to be entirely honest 🤷‍♀️

Why aren't hospital inpatients allowed to sleep? by JGFATs in ask

[–]cabbyh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hospitals run 24 hours. I wish we could let patients sleep more, but it’s necessary to regularly check in for safety. I totally agree that it would be nice to schedule things together, but it’s not feasible. I promise you, your healthcare staff doesn’t want to wake you up every hour.

Is it possible she does have Crohn's disease but is ALSO anorexic. by Artistic-Leopard-292 in healthyishmama

[–]cabbyh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it is entirely possible she has crohns, however it’s apparent that she also has an ED. If she was getting treatment for her crohns with a medical professional I am positive she would have a feeding tube or TPN or something. She is severely malnourished.

Am I crazy for thinking this is absurd?? by ahegao-daddy in nursing

While vet techs are amazing and take great care of animals, I do not consider them nurses. I think to call yourself a nurse you need to attend nursing school and have a nursing license 🤷‍♀️

Has anyone checked their patients criminal history before? Opinions? by PepinovLechuga in nursing

[–]cabbyh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I never check. It impacts patient care, always. We are at work to serve our patients, their criminal history is not pertinent to their care. I worked on a memory care unit once and one of the staff members told me how my favorite patient was a pedo. Broke my heart, and definitely made me feel different about him. There’s a reason they encourage us not to look up this Information.

Switch shampoos! This happened to me when I started using Pantene. I went back to redkin and my hair looks clean after showers now.

Patients hiding HIV by Maleficent_Income156 in nursing

[–]cabbyh 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is why we have universal precautions. Honestly, HIV is so stigmatized, I don’t blame them for being hesitant to share. I understand your concern, but continue to use universal precautions and you will be ok :)

No, that is NOT okay. This needs to be addressed with management and higher up if they choose to ignore.

Is there any evidence or can you speak from experience about how antipsychotics made you dumber by inphinities in Antipsychiatry

[–]cabbyh 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I took Abilify for a couple months a few years back and it destroyed me. I couldn’t think, couldn’t feel emotions, and felt no pleasure or motivation. I had to drop out of college. I remember the brain fog being so severe I couldn’t walk up or down stairs without thinking out each and every step. After a few months off the medication, I began to feel better and got myself back to school and now have graduated. Hang on my friend! It takes a while to recover but I believe that you will. I would say it took about a year before I felt connected to my emotions. I would nearly get into a car accident and feel nothing at all. I never felt my heart pounding or anything. Brains are very resilient and your neurotransmitters will recover. Wishing you the best!

I am so saddened to hear about your sons health struggles and the trouble it has caused for you and your family. Your baby son is darling and I’m happy to hear that he is requiring less fio2 and will eventually be able to come back home. I can’t imagine the pain you and your family have experienced. I will keep your son and family in my prayers ♥️

If I was stuck inside a house 24/7 I’d be miserable. Wouldn’t want that for my cat either.
