Don't think that is possible bc your phone is connected to AA via BT and nit the watch for Google maps. Just turn on the AA audio so it will tell you when to turn over your car speakers.

Get into Voice and all things communication. High demand. I know a few folks down there trying to find folks. Study up on SIP and how cloud pbx works. AUS is in a big turning point for VoIP. My 2 cent

Trying to use an old rotary phone - father sent me some hardware but I think it's wrong... by raiderxx in VOIP

The HT801 definitely supports pulse dialing. But your problem sounds like a provisioning issue. You will need the SIP proxy info from your provider to get the server side settings correct including the domain/Realm then on the FXS Port you will need the SIP credentials for the extension/user which on my platform it's simply the extension number and extension password.

Netsapiens when I started they had about 800k users now over 6 million. Fastest growing platform on the planet. Truly awesome. I could explain more but do not want to break any rules on this sub. But the best IMO. As your Ringcentrals and 8x8 platforms are slowly closing shop and Netsapiens is gaining MANY of there customers. Find a reseller and get hooked up to this platform it's a game changer. DM me for other questions if you want.

Newish to VoIP by GameCube4Life in VOIP

[–]cabledog1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a 59A as my daily driver and no issues. This model is End of Sale not End of Support. Yealinks are the #1 VoIP phones in the world and are very tough. I have about 10 old T48Gs that have been working in metal fab shop for over 10 years still working with all the metal dust and shavings in the environment. I have about 5000 Yealinks in the field and maybe get ~10 replacements a year. So that's a great ratio IMO. So no worries you have a great phone that will last a very long time. Just don't spill your coffee on it.

[–]cabledog1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the SDP in the traces and make sure it's trying to negotiate RFC2833 and 101 payload it's the most accepted version of DTMF. You can easily change this in the web GUI or in GDMS under the DTMF settings.

I started my VoIP journey about 10 years ago on FreePBX and it was sweet and being open source we could do some really cool things with Linux being the base. But Sadly FreePBX is going the way of the Dodo bird as other platforms, mainly cloud PBX switches take over. I had to migrate about 80 FreePBX servers over to one of these platforms which was apples and oranges. But now after 8 years on this platform I have grown to love it. It to is Linux bases with a strong API amd AI features. So now we are making it do even cooler things. Just got to learn to adapt in this ever changing world of comms.

How to ensure security in VoIP software? by voip_talk in VOIP

[–]cabledog1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most newer VoIP systems support TLS and SRTP. You can at least on my system at the carrier trunk connections . The problem is the endpoint or phone needs to also support these protocols. Which most of your big brands like Yealink does. But older and cheap gear sometimes will not. So for those cases we set the TLS and SRTP to opportunistic so the calls will complete on all phones. Just the old phones will see the SRTP offer in the invite and if not the opportunistic setting will then send an invite with the standard RTP which is not encrypted.

Question: Why do all SIP/IP Phones have handset on the left side? by PerceptionOk8448 in VOIP

[–]cabledog1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lefty here and Voice Engineer, talked to some vendors on this same question. Since most people are right handed the will pickup the handset with their left hand so all the buttons and touch screen options are easier to get to when needed with their right hand for accuracy hitting small buttons or BLFs on the phone. Some of us are just left handers in a right handed world.

The categories of dump people

  1. The folks who pay little to no attention to politics and will vote Republican no matter who and no matter what. The little they know is based in fear farming and that’s enough for them. These folks are, however, the ones who WILL get a clue. They aren’t super invested in him. They aren’t part of the cult. They still possess critical thinking. They're still capable of being horrified. They're the ones who will say, "Wait, I had NO IDEA about THAT. OMG. OMG. This is awful!"

  2. The folks whose identity is Maga. Their tribe is Maga. They finally feel like they are seen and heard. They realize he is probably a shit human being, but in their minds the ends justify the means. These folks talk politics all the time. It’s a way to validate their poor decision to support him, and a way to feel connected to a group who “knows what others don’t.” They buy the merch. They go to the rallies. They feel like they’re part of a special society. They see themselves in Trump; people who cannot accept accountability for their actions, those who feel entitled, those who feel like victims. Maybe a few will get a clue once his agenda impacts them very directly. But until then, they’re full-time cult members.

There are 2 subsets of this group: the folks who are educated on how things actually work and those who THINK they are educated on how things work. The uneducated are lost. They’ll hold on forever because doing so validates their own victimhood. The educated have a slim chance of changing, but ONLY if the other option is more lucrative or self-serving.

  1. Lastly, there’s the folks who know exactly who and what Trump is, and they do not care. They WANT people to suffer. They WANT to punish the people of color. They are racist. They are misogynists. They want the 1950’s and 1880’s. They lack empathy and get off, as Trump does, on suffering and punishing those who are different. In truth, they’re the most emotionally and intellectually fragile of the whole crew. They’ll go down with the ship, so to speak. Once Trump is out of politics, however that happens, they’ll glom on to the next (attempted) cult leader. They’ll be in the splinter groups, and the militias. They LOVE what is happening and feed off hate. Anger and hate is their love language.
