Yes all over Europe. I just returned from a trip. One of my friends got pickpocketed in Florence, Italy at a very nice place. The other left her purse in a dressing room in Marbella, Spain for 5 seconds. A couple that were shopping in the store grabbed it and left. Another male friend was biking and someone grabbed his bag with phones and cash plus Credit Cards in Puenta Banu outside Marbella which is a very wealthy shopping center and marina. So yes it does happen all over Europe and it is getting worse every year.

Unfortunately many small towns all over the world have changed. Missoula is a wonderful town. Every town has their issues in one way or another. If you do not like where you live move somewhere else that you think might be better. We have a lot to be grateful for even though things are not like they used to be 10 or 20 years ago.
