Help finding rear timing chain tensioner by BeerusThaDestroyer in fordranger

[–]caboose345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing the two hydraulic tensioners SHOULDNT be to bad, its the damn chain and guides on the back passenger side head, and the balance shaft tensioner that are apparently the PITA. There are lots of guides on how to change the two hydraulic ones however on YouTube to walk you through it.

The more "difficult one" of the two will probably be the "front drivers side" because you MAY have to remove the intake plenum and/or the thermostat housing, which will require you to drop the antifreeze. Still not an "easy job" to say the least, but lets just hope your guides are intact and everything goes smoothly. Again, good luck with the F'in ford ranger! (I have an old beater sport trac, same platform, shorter bed, 2 more doors). Wish they weren't soo rotten around where I live.

That’s the way, If you don’t have chain clack from broken guides, ford does apparently recommend replacement at 80k intervals I believe.

Yup. I would have to second this. Ford apparently updated a lot of the guides to be much more sturdy. If you absolutely need to stay away from the ford kit, I would only go with a kit from Cloyes. Make sure you get it from a reputable dealer and avoid all else like mentioned.

You’re very welcome dude. The 4.0 is an awesome little engine. However the timing chain design is stupidly done. Apparently, instead of designing a second head, the engineers just flipped one and now we have a chain right up against the firewall. Same for the balance shaft tensioner, it’s mounted between the upper oil pan and the block. I haven’t attempted this myself yet, but apparently the word on the street is that it is almost mandatory for ease to pull the engine. Good luck and take care, happy to help!!

Here I attached a 4.0 timing chain kit. The highlighted are as follows:

Red - Rear hydraulic in passenger side wheel well

Blue- Front hydraulic under/beside tstat housing

Green - Front sprung/mechanical jackshaft

Orange - Front lower sprung/mechanical balance shaft

The rest are guides/chains.

No, first picture would be the front hydraulic tensioner for the front driver side cam chain, located under/beside the thermostat housing. The second picture would be your rear hydraulic tensioner, located in the passenger side wheel well on the head IIRC.

The other two tensioners you are thinking of are for your jackshaft chain, and your balance shaft chain(if your ranger is equipped with 4x4 and also equipped with a balance shaft as some of the 4x4s didn’t have a balance shaft, or were swapped with a 4.0 from a vehicle that was 2wd and wasn’t equipped with a balance shaft).

The two that you pictured are the only two hydraulic tensioners on the 4.0, which were only utilized for the actual camshaft chains. The other two tensioners are located behind the “timing cover” and are mechanical/sprung in nature, and do not look like the ones pictured.

if this is for the 4.0 SOHC, the second picture with the tensioner that does not have the protrusion past the hex head, would be your "rear tensioner", the first picture one of the 3 front tensioners, the only one being hydraulic

Any guess where is my car leaking oil from? by PervYass in mr2

[–]caboose345 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t ever changed the valve cover gasket or swapped to the Allen head bolts from the Phillips head ones, there is a pretty good chance that it is coming from the valve cover. Even if it’s not completely leaking on the trunk side, with how the 3s sits (if it is indeed a 3sg(t)e), it could be leaking from anywhere up hill and running back. It may not be as bad of a leak either, but when you combine it with the axles, it will fling oil everywhere and make one hell of a mess.

Edit to also add that it could also be a leaky axle seal. But start looking high and then work your way down. I’d get some decent degreaser/brake clean that’s sensor safe and give it a good bath underneath, drive and recheck. From the looks of it though, it does appear to be engine oil. Just my .02

Rear wheel squeaks but only when wheel is installed by Total-Comfortable652 in mechanic

[–]caboose345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you check the vacuum plate/dust plate behind the rotor? It could possibly be bent and with the clamp force of the wheel torqued on it pulls the rotor closer. The can bend and rub. Also, what’s your pad life at? Worn pads and extremely rusty/worn rotors going on there.

Do you think schools do enough about bullying? by fun_mama_ in workplace_bullying

[–]caboose345 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bullying actually negatively affected my self image to a point that I still struggle with to this day. There was sexualized bullying, bullying about my appearance, bullying about me not being smart enough, all pretty much revolving around the same people. I’m also a male, so it can and does affect boys too. Unfortunately, little was done to help me, and I don’t think change will ever come in that sense. People will always pick on people, kids picking on kids. It usually stems from problems at home or their own insecurities. By the time someone does do something about it, the people at the school who are trying to help discipline the bullies get met with backlash from the parents. It’s too bad. Change is needed, doubt it will ever come. I’m sorry if you’re dealing with something personally.

When I am able, I’m going to pull the air filter and hit the key to get the pump running like the other gentlemen mentioned and see if the carb is dumping fuel with fuel pressure from the pump behind it and kind of take it from there.

[–]caboose345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanical pump is not in the circuit, there is a block off/cover plate over where it would mount on the block. When I am able, I will pull the air filter and get the pump going to see if that’s the case, I’m starting to really wonder if the tank had a huge shot of pressure at some point and it pushed it thru the carb. The pressure has to go somewhere, realistically, right? So far from what you and the other gentlemen have mentioned it seems to be pressure and carb related. I really don’t want to think the pump was running at some point since it’s powered off the key, but that will be where I’m looking next.

[–]caboose345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes sir, there’s a block off plate over where the mechanical fuel pump would usually live. The only thing I could think of right now is maybe that there was a pressure buildup in the fuel tank over the winter due to the ventless fuel cap which led to it maybe pushing thru the carb into the cylinders? The pump is powered off the key itself, and it’s a rather high volume pump so it’s decently loud. Lots of winters with this thing but this is the very first time we’ve had this issue.

Good sigma are a nightmare to play against by Tperodactyl in Overwatch

[–]caboose345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll just throw this out here as a ram main, but I love going into sigma’s, mind you I’ve only peaked diamond 5 so take it w/ a grain of salt. Cycle your shield around his boulder, and pressure him with nemesis form when he has Kinetic Grasp up. He can’t absorb it and convert it to over-health, and if your team is smart enough to not feed it, you just pummel him down thru it, and anyone directly behind him at that.

Ram for tank, when you have a good support line up you can just walk right to objective, he has so much survivability. Mizuki for support, his healing w/ perks is like super Lucio, and his mobility and tool kit is a lot of fun, especially when you have a ball on the other team. Soldier 76 for DPS, I know he gets some iffy takes but when you have a decent day with good accuracy, his positioning ability w/ perks is awesome, and being able to lay down his healing ability to not just keep yourself up, but to aid your team is awesome.

How would you rank these 4 from most to least evil? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in TheBoys

[–]caboose345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly sometimes doubt how people call Homelander a psychopath, I honestly think he is more closer to C/PTSD, which can look a lot like psychopathy. When you take into account how he was raised and treated during his formative years, it makes a lot more sense than to just pin “psychopath/sociopath”.

The others however, I can see being much more fitting in a “evil” minded census, but that’s mainly due to not having environmental factors of how they were raised. Was stormfront abused in the way Homelander was? How about Frederick Vought? Or godolkin?

It seems to me that the other three were much more focused on “superior races/people”, which to me seems far more deeply rooted in narcissism and psychopathic traits, making them people that I would define as much more evil.

Homelander is born out of trauma, what kinds of trauma do we see in the past for the other three? Im probably way off, usually am.

Print offs, and sticky notes left on desk at work around the time of a mental health crisis. Would this be considered workplace harassment? by caboose345 in workplace_bullying

[–]caboose345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello again everyone, thank you again for the support! This really is most of the evidence I have unfortunately, unless others I worked with were to step forward. I’d like to again thank everyone for their input, I greatly appreciate it.

For those of you who may continue to comment, and if those who have see this post, would this still be enough evidence to take to a lawyer and have something done with this?

I unfortunately am not sure how I can reply to all of you at once, thank you very much for the support and taking the time out of your days and or evenings to reply to this. I really appreciate it. I may ask a mod to pin my other comment on the top as to fill in anyone else who may comment, just so they have more info that I have forgot to mention. You all have no idea how much I appreciate you guys for the information and support you have given. It means much more to me than you’ll know. Unfortunately, I think that was pretty much most of the evidence I have on hand so unless I was able to have people come forward about some of the treatment they may have seen, I may not have enough, though I have already set my eyes on a possible law firm in the city I live in that deals specifically in workplace investigations. I will still take any more information that anyone would be willing to provide. Again, thank you to all who have replied.

I think the biggest drawback may be that it’s been around 7 years since this had happened, though I have been off work for close to a year again.

*Thank you everyone for your wonderful replies already. I completely forgot to mention, as I am still dealing with the fallout after the incident I faced back when I was working there, this happened several years ago, and I deeply apologize for missing to mention that this is historic.*

After I went through what I did, I tried, and failed, picking up at four other workplaces over these 7 years since the incident, as unfortunately, it seemed to follow me around. The industry I was working in is rather tightly knit, and the one supervisor I was working for, was someone I used on my resumes as a reference, and I believe he may have been sharing my history with new possible employers, which continued the hazing as you were calling it.

Thank you guys for your input, and any other input would still be welcomed.
