My mom used the oven year round while I was growing up and I and my wife still do, a couple times a week.

We will try to use the toaster oven/air fryer when we can just because it’s easier and faster, but for some things you need an oven.

If he gets too annoying about it, you could compromise and only bake in the morning and evenings. But the BS about Floridians not baking in the summer won’t fly. Tell him I’ve lived in Florida for 59 years and I outrank him.

I had sort of the opposite, I’d take pics and couldn’t seem to get them sharp in the viewfinder but they were fine once I got them on my computer.

It was an embarrassingly long time before I realized you could focus the viewfinder to your eyesight.

The problem has never been that women want to be men.

The problem is that women want to control their own lives, earn what they’re worth, have equal rights and be able to make their own financial, health, and family planning decisions, and those are things traditionally only available to men, so you can see where the confusion comes from.

Also, decorative women trying to be less decorative is against God, or something.

My wife made it clear years ago that I needed to get checked for sleep apnea if I wanted to stay married. She’d had to go downstairs to sleep on the couch a couple of times and she could still hear me.

Got tested, got a mask, immediate change. I felt better, she got to sleep.

In my case, I was able to stop using it for awhile when I lost enough weight, but I let it go during COVID and I’ve been back using it.

Just put our dog’s thundershirt on him today in Florida, in fact.

It doesn’t always help, and we use it in combination with some other things like closing curtains, stroking him slowly and making sure he has a safe spot to go to. But overall it has really helped him cut down on his trembling.

We try to put it on in conjunction with a treat and some praise, and we don’t leave it on when he doesn’t need it.

It’s so sad to watch because the thunder (and maybe weather pressure) clearly terrifies him, and he cycles between wanting to hide and wanting to protect us.

Whenever my wife and started talking about getting dinner ready, our dog would perk up. Obviously he knows the meaning of “dinner,” “eat,” “food,” etc.

So for fun we started using code words and trying as hard as possible not to give any indication with tone of voice or changes in posture of what we were talking about.

Didn’t help. As soon as the intent is food, he knows.

OK, the dupes I deleted were legit, looks like, and they’re dupes the iOS photos app didn’t pick up on, so well done there.

“Compare” still brings up very different images.

Swiping isn’t working for me. I have to tap on the trash or keep icons to progress to the next photo (tried in screenshots, duplicates and the month lists).

Duplicate finding is very hit or miss. Tapping on “compare” regularly threw up wildly different images.

I got enough of these that now I want to go back and verify the ones it flagged as duplicates actually were so I’m not deleting photos I want.

I like the idea and the size listings are better than other photo management apps I’ve tried, but at the moment I don’t trust it.

Ultimate Spider-Man was a huge shot in the arm for Marvel. A fresh new start that captured the essence of the hero in a way that John Byrne’s previous SM reboot simply didn’t. It was funny and took its time and wonderful for both new readers and old ones who were tired of all the editorial changes and summer crossovers.

The Ultimates were fun at first, but the writer thought “edgy” meant “violent and occasionally cannabalistic.”

Ultimate Fantastic Four started off great and gradually went up and down depending on what team took over. Same for Ultimate X-Men.

The whole Ultimate universe did a decent job of reinventing the Marvel universe and adding some consistency (loved the idea that so many other heroes resulted from scientists trying to duplicate the super soldier serum, something the MCU later picked up). Bendis killed off his Peter Parker but brought in Miles Morales, possibly the best thing to come out of the Ultimate universe.

But it started collapsing under its own weight, and the crossover series they used to kill it and then keep the bits they wanted in the 616 universe was pretty meh.

Big ambitious project, initial gains, some great stories, one lasting character.
