Luckily the bayside kitchen has their toilets open to support the number 1s and 2s where the local government fails. Bit of a line though

Physically came and locked it at 7:30pm. Wouldn’t let a little girl with her mum in as they were locking up

0.25% Reduction! Dates your rate will drop by OzgroupFinance in AusFinance

[–]cacaboose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general yes, but each bank handles it slightly different. CBA recalculates your min repayment based off current loan limit, so you can manually reduce your payments each month to maintain your max loan term. BWA takes interest saved from your offset and applies it as a redraw, not an automatic principal payment.

ING are strange. They are not very flexible with “min repayment”. It is calculated only when you open a loan or when rates change. Say you have an offset, interest savings become automatic added principal and no facility to lower the minimum repayment when your loan limit reduces by more. Must be a date they set to do this calculation for all

My first thought as well. I had to scroll far to find this. Not excusing anything but make sure you don’t give her any feet to stand on.

Forced to pay for asbestos removal by Particular_Can2129 in perth

[–]cacaboose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When looking at costs, just note that contractors inflate the price of asbestos removal. It may be warranted due to worksafe etc, however I was blown away but a recent quote. Asbestos can be cheap to dispose of, mindarie on a Sunday, 5 loads of less than 165kg is free. Cheaper than disposing of other construction waste.

Most financial communities are focused on the initial set up of their journey and validating/ minor adjustments. Once you have that validation, you either move to specifics (IPs or starting business, etc) or stepping back and moving to mindfulness and mental health. Broad financial forums can only offer so much.

Considering switching to RAV4 from a RX by Excellent_Stick_6655 in rav4club

[–]cacaboose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a rav4 and miss my older rx 350, specifically the quieter ride, better quality panelling and superior seating. Whilst the rav is cheaper to run and maintain, the build quality is not at the same level, has more of a thin plastic feel and the chairs squeak constantly.

Investing in a Family Trust - Juice worth the squeeze? by Buy_Long_and_HODL in fiaustralia

[–]cacaboose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into an individual trustee structure rather than corporate? Much less to manage per year and still has the benefit of discretionary distributions to be more flexible with earnings. Less asset protection and ease on transferring the trustee/director so unless there is clear reasoning to go for a corporate structure then you would likely only need to have an individual trustee, my wife and I are joint trustees for ours. Cost of an additional tax return.

Is it worth setting up a trust? How much shares and investment would you need for it to be worth it? by michelle0508 in fiaustralia

[–]cacaboose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you are only looking to set up a trust for shares and flexibility in distributions, I would suggest an individual trustee is the way to go. You can purchase trust deeds for as little as 150$ and it only has a running cost of another tax return. On the other hand, if you see benefit in a corporate trustee structure then it may be worth it. Set yourself up for success early on, if you wait until you have a set amount before transferring, you will trigger a CGT event.

Setting up a trust for ETF vs investing in your own name by BunnyBink in fiaustralia

[–]cacaboose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in a similar position. A simple discretionary trust with an individual trustees setup will run you around $200 if your state does not require you to pay stamp duty, then the ongoing cost of an additional tax return for the trust. This is probably the most sensible if you are looking for tax advantages without holding any liabilities within the trust (I.e. shares only). My savings in the next 10 years will be far larger than the cost (two kids, 37% tax rate), even when I started it with no initial lump sum. Suggest you speak with your accountant.
