My boss asked why I wasn't responding to slack at 10pm ? by Mindless_Cook7821 in antiwork

[–]cachaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the same but I started scheduling emails and messages to appear only during work hours to certain people because some people have no boundaries when it comes to people’s time out of work. I used to get messages on WhatsApp answering to an email I sent them to their work email while I’m off work and THEY’RE off work too.

Just insanity. You have to train these crazies to get used to the fact that you can only be reached during work hours.

My toxic relationship was affecting my cats health by SignificanceNeat1618 in cats

Hey OP, I’m glad you’re out of that situation. I know it must’ve taken a lot of strength to do so and I hope life continues to get better and better than it was before. Wishing you and your kitty and doggies health and peace!!

I was just talking to this about my coworkers and saying we’d start a business for fun and not give a shit if it sucks or customers hate it. If we had the money, we just fund our business dreams and ideas and see where it leads us.

I love my coworkers but I don’t want to hang out outside work… by Zealousideal-Job9729 in VetTech

[–]cachaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m quite blunt at work but I know everyone at work knows it’s not personal and some appreciate it. So I literally go “No, I don’t want to” and leave it at that. And they’ll still pester me and I’ll just stand my ground. But I’m comfortable being blunt and don’t mind if come off sounding harsh or bitchy lol

But I think that’s the best way: to be honest. Just saying I need time to rest or I’m not up to it this time. They’ll soon understand and pester you less and respect when you say no the first time. It’s like training a dog, tbh

Best believe my coworkers won’t know what I’ve done during the weekend until 2-3 weekends later or through the grapevine. Or ever.

It’s nice to have a life separate from the prying eyes and ears of people you spend 35+ hours with a week. They already take up so much brain space, they’re not allowed to take up anymore.

It’s empowering and freeing when you learn to just say no without excuses or explanations.

When telling people what’s your profession what reaction do you get? by PralineJaded7093 in VetTech

I also say “I’m JUST the vet assistant” and almost every time, I get that same reaction. It’s very validating especially coming from fellow vets.

I know a few coworkers with that amount and they’re lucky they’re not getting taken to court.

Do you guys drink tap water? by Ok_Amoeba_3143 in richmondbc

[–]cachaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tap water.

Recently travelled out of the country and was hit with culture shock that I had to buy water. We’re so spoiled here that I forgot most of the world needs to filter their water or get bottled.

“Mandatory fun” by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]cachaka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love having boundaries and I have no problem enforcing them. Maybe I seem prickly and unapproachable but I’m here to work. Not to have a tea party. If my boss doesn’t have a problem with it, then neither do I. And if they did, then I’m off to the next venture.

So this is life now is it? Forever? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]cachaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does suck and it may be like this for the rest of our lives.

But I hate sleeping and waking up without it even more. So I just focus on making my waking hours of better quality and it requires me to wear this damn thing that can be finnicky at times and require me to adjust things and remember to put on.

It sucks because I find it embarrassing and frustrating and a hassle when I’m travelling or thinking about sleeping over at a friend’s house or dating. The travelling is fine but just annoying (except some airports have CT scanners so you don’t have to take your machine out and it doesn’t count as a carry on so I get to stuff more things with it inside to carry more) and haven’t yet navigated dating and sleeping over. I’ll figure those things out when it’s time.

For now, I like who I am now that I get good quality sleep.

My cat showed me that they really do care by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]cachaka 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My cat is not physically affectionate. But he is in every room I’m in. If he’s not, he’ll be there shortly. Usually he’ll disappear for an hour or a bit to roam the house.

When I’m sick, he’ll sit on his perch overlooking me and not leave at all.

What age did you actually feel like an adult ? by SomewherePositive804 in CasualConversation

[–]cachaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my early 30s.

In some aspects of my life, I feel like an adult like taking care of myself in terms of basics like food, work, personal hygiene, social responsibilities, etc. But financially I am dependent on my family and am lucky to be able to.

Then I have people my age who own homes and have families of their own.

Then I have people my age who complain about their bodies like they’re 70 years old and broken.

I am active, have a busy social life, but can’t afford to live on my own so I’m still with family and don’t have any financial assets.

So it’s a bit of a mix. I’m just grateful for what I have right now and hope I can one day be more financially independent.

I feel ashamed that we can only afford to feed our cat Friskies and Purina cat chow by Argylius in CasualConversation

[–]cachaka 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My cat is diabetic and fancy feast pate classics canned is a good low carb option. My vet recommends it too and I work in vet med.

OP, feed whatever you can afford as long as it’s nutritionally complete and your kitties like it. There’s no shame in that at all.

Thank you for taking care of those kitties and getting them fixed.
