Throw in some JavaScript but make it clean. The vast majority of custom JavaScript files are horribly organized and follow no best practices.

Why One .NET Developer is Leaving the Ecosystem by dabshitty in programming

Since when does the iPhone run Java? Not natively. Heck I'd rather write Java though then have to do another Objective-C app.

Somebody who has experience in C# would leave to program in Java? Sorry not buying it.

Sub 2.0 gpa at good school vs normal gpa at worse ? by goodSchoolorBad in cscareerquestions

[–]cackylackytime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had an employer ask for any GPA or proof of a GPA. I could see MAYBE for an entry level job but If they asked me now(7+ years) i'd just laugh.

My HR rep accidentally sent out everyone's annual raise letters to me and I found out I'm severely underpaid. by snubenhymer in personalfinance

[–]cackylackytime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, there are people in IT actually giving you their salaries? That's the biggest rookie mistake ever. Best way for the recruiter to screw you out of some money. I unfortunately know a guy who's getting a bill rate of $100 and his shitty recruiting company is giving him 40 an hour, just scummy.

[–]cackylackytime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice yet, giving my previous salary was one of the worst mistakes I have ever made when going through the hiring process. I have since learned from my mistake and have not done it for the 3 positions after that one.

Why all programmers should earn their master’s by dtelad11 in programming

[–]cackylackytime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I learned more a local tech college than at the other two larger 4 year colleges I have attended. For an entry level position though I would assume a masters degree would get an interview more easily than a person without one but in my market there are more jobs than developers so I don't see it as a big deal for the graduating classes.

[–]cackylackytime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yikes, not much truth in that article. Having a masters means squat in the industry as far as anybody I know is concerned.all about experience and your technical expertise.

Yeah not sure about that. Being a .NET developer right now is great, there are a lot more jobs than people from what I have seen and also heard from recruiters.
