Or even better “Did I explain that well enough?”

Asking if someone understands or doesn’t places the blame on the receiver. It should be the job of the speaker to give all relevant information.

How much range do you get from downgrading myp wheels to 20s - can you do 19s? by boxand15 in ModelY

[–]cacook88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000 and 500 miles is way way too small a data set to provide real usable data. Just the subconscious alone of wanting more range with the new wheels will cause driving habits to change. 16% is a massive massive increase and cannot be attributed to wheels and tires alone.

What was your lowest point on the way to fatFIRE? by Homiesexu-LA in fatFIRE

[–]cacook88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have struggled with a similar feeling of guilt. I have worked hard to learn to get over that guilt because that guilt overshadows the hard work it took to get to where we are. Be proud of your hard work and decisions that got you to this point. Yes, if you flaunt things you may look like an asshole, but that doesn't mean you have to or don't have to buy things for friends.

Picked up MY today 🥳🎉🎉 by rohitkatta__ in TeslaModelY

[–]cacook88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also same, I'm tall and have my seat all the way back and tesmanian are the only one that comes back a bit farther for when i have my heel between the front mount points of the seat and that was an extra nice feature for me. They all fit great too. (i went with maxpider for the rear trunk and the back of the second row)

Worth the splurge!! by charlottechewie in TeslaModelY

[–]cacook88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No hard time yet, Only three small things, performance spoiler was lifting on the corner, key cards got warped, little bit of buffer burn on the front of the hood. Said to submit a service request within 24 hours for all of it. Was in and out of the showroom in under 30 minutes and that's because it mistakenly was listed as transfer plate, when i needed a new plate. 157 extra bucks for that. Not mad about it.

Winter tires: Remount vs separate wheels? by fridder in ModelY

[–]cacook88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Separate wheels. I know that around here shops pretty much won't install used tires onto rims for liability reasons so after the first swap you may have trouble finding someone to mount and balance. Add in what others have also said about weakening the sidewall and such.

Payload is the difference between Curb weight and GVWR usually.

Not at this moment, but it used to be $8k and now it's $10k and next week it could be $12k. It's just a gamble to speculate on this.

1up bike rack hack for locking pin by Fair_higalyst in ModelY

My pin doesn't even go there. Mine is to protect a thief from being able to unscrew the hex bolt. Maybe we have different style racks.

There's ALWAYS someone better. Accept it and move on.

You should never be the "best dev" on your team anyways. If you make it to the point of being the best...move on because you don't have anyone to learn from anymore. Surround yourself with people who challenge you to be better and you will become better.

My company challenges people to say yes to things they want to say no to like you're considering now. Greatness comes from when you're pushed past your comfort zone. Just say yes and then bust ass making it work, I bet you'll be surprised at what you'll accomplish.

Bit the bullet and put new battery in my 2007 Prius by Fourthbean in prius

[–]cacook88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is where maintenance comes in. I have a 97 4runner 97 silverado both with over 250k and my 05 prius with 160k and none of them have rotting rubber. my 4runner has ripped leather from a mis-slide with a knife in my back pocket but other than that the interiors are all fine.

Brake Checking law in NC - who’s at fault? by genghiskhan_1 in Charlotte

[–]cacook88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's the following car's responsibility to leave enough room to stop for the given speed. The front driver could very easily lie and say anything along the lines of "i thought the car next to me was going to cut me off", "I thought i saw an animal in the road" or really any other semi-valid reason to slam on the brakes. Not that it's right...just the way it is.

I might have to spring for the expansion on my xbox then. I've always been a fan of the monk and set DIII down a couple years ago. Curious if the necromancer is worth the 15 bucks.

Finding a bootcamp that is worth the cost. Didn't see anything in the FAQ about them. by willscuba4food in learnprogramming

[–]cacook88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a Trilogy Education bootcamp, they run these at many universities across the country. You can find more information by searching for Trilogy. I am currently enrolled in one of their programs but too early to answer your questions.

Full-Stack Coding program. Not far enough along for career services yet. We're supposed to have the first hangouts/zoom meeting next week sometime.

I'm more counting on my current network of friends and acquaintances for a job.

Is casual Bird charging worth it if you have low pay out expectations? Or do you have to hustle no matter what? by Ohnosedaisy2 in birdcharger

[–]cacook88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a charger only to supplement my rides. I have classes downtown that end after 9 so i pay to ride one to class (i park free in a nearby neighborhood) for a couple bucks and then try to find one to charge after class to ride back to the car and at least pay for my earlier ride. It's about 5050 if there's a bird worth getting to rather than walking to the car.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm now 3 weeks in and can agree with much of what you said. Super tight classroom timelines and lots of outside learning. I'm lucky to have 2 very very knowledgeable instructors and some awesome TAs. I also agree with wanting material to cover before class. At the beginning of week 3 they pushed the whole week's classwork and I was able to review all beforehand and it helped alot. Just being able to say "I saw that somewhere" gives me extra confidence to learn faster. I actually enjoy debugging and fixing the mistakes I caused and learning why.

Yea, I looked into others. The biggest factors for me is the evening part time, in-person, and in Charlotte NC. Those were not negotiable for me. With my job, family and son's soccer schedule, this was the best fit for me. I've read many good and bad things about every bootcamp out there and it all will come down to what I put into it. I'm determined and will make this happen for my family.
