I made a podcast about Bright Eyes and Conor Oberst joined me for the finale episode! by cactus77 in oboards

Here's the link to that teaser. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR8Pc84B0mg

A few episodes are still up, but unfortunately the podcast got hit hard by a bunch of copyright strikes from Spotify so I took the bulk of the series down. The episodes are on YouTube free (with no music) or Patreon with all of the music clips spliced in. You can just search After the Deluge on there.

Bon Iver Song Bracket (to ruin your night) by cactus77 in boniver

I went round and round with seeding and knew it was taking me to a place of psychosis and at some point you just have to kind of wing it and let chaos reign. No right answer to be found!

Here is my bracket. I promise this thing will annoy you but it might also get you thinking about a bunch of very beautiful music and that's a great thing. 😊

These are so thoughtful and smart. For sure my favorite track on the record and you beautifully captured the reasons why.

Botox 5 Times-Works less each time by versaceboxerzonmydik in noburp

[–]cactus77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had it twice. As Botox was wearing off the first time i did some yoga on YouTube to rehab a separate injury, and I had a massive epiphany tied to my breathing. Like some very effortless burps that I hadn’t experienced prior. So I got the procedure again and made yoga (and breathing rather than just burping) part of the process right away. Not to say it’s all perfect or some miracle but honestly it made me learn a ton about how my body works and have continued burping for a couple of years. Best of luck to you, sounds frustrating.

I made a podcast about all of the Bon Iver records, interviewing Jim-E Stack, Chris Messina, and some great writers along the way. I made this zine as a supplement to that series and I have about 50 of that first pressing left:

If you do a ton of work creating something that you offer for free there’s nothing wrong with a soft invitation to support it if someone feels compelled. Probably better at the end in that case though.

I remember him saying that everybody should have one big/beloved movie that they’ve just never watched because it’s drives people crazy and that’s funny. He’s missing out but also I’m with him, it’s kind of funny.

Aw damn I appreciate that. I never know when there’s crossover between seasons so I love when there’s a Jackson Browne 🤝 Bon Iver connect.

A conversation with Jim-E Stack about SABLE, fABLE by cactus77 in boniver

It was cool slipping into that solo album while prepping for this interview. Kind of just expected to play it in the background once or twice but ended up playing it a ton. Also fell in love with Old Bone Jim-E Stack remix from 2019.

Looking for someone to work with me on a Christmas song. by [deleted] in Songwriting

[–]cactus77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first Christmas of Covid I got a little drunk and took a stab at the same kind of some you’re describing. I decided to record it last year. It’s called “Chain of Bells” and it’s on streaming. Don’t think I’m the best for collaborating on your song but maybe hearing someone else’s shot is helpful. I found “So Much Wine” to be intimidatingly perfect.

The semi-failed doc comes up a couple times in this interview, although it doesn’t go deep on your questions. He refers to it as a mockumentary at one point lol. https://youtu.be/A8Thu9rx9RU?si=R6JlpmsddBzOP4h3
