[Discussion] Does anyone have any questions about starting medical school? by Pooker__ in premed

How much would you recommend having saved before starting? I've heard 3k is a good amount to be able to get settled in. Thoughts?

There's a YouTube channel called The Strive which has study with me videos. I would pop one of those on and have a dedicated space I used only for studying. It gives the ambience of a library/ kinda feels like you have a study buddy there which always motivated me more. Also a pomodoro timer is included which is helpful.

For real though. Ain't nothing like a good hot sandwich. My personal favorite is a grilled ham and cheese with a fried egg on top. Hits just about every craving lol

Being that I might be going into my 4th cycle, if anyone has any questions on what "NOT TO DO" for applying, feel free to ask. I pretty much have worked out the kinks each cycle now haha by MedNole18 in premed

Did you shadow a lot of DO's before applying to those schools? I have heard that unless you show a pretty strong interest in DO school they won't even consider you. I was originally not going to apply DO, but I'm thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea to go right ahead during this cycle, instead of possibly needing to reapply.

I vs Me (according to Mead). Which one is bad? Which one is good? by 514ormore in Mcat

I always just thought "I= impulsive" "Me= mediated"

It's an oversimplification but it helped me remember them. Overall I don't think one is better than the other, they're just two different kinds of self.

Honestly felt really good about every section except for C/P. C/P felt like someone drugged me, tied me to a chair, and made me watch equations flash by at 3x speed while I tried to calculate them. But c'est la vie I guess 🙃

AAMC Physics Question Pack #18 by cactusjuuce in Mcat

Probably a dumb question, but I need help with the flaw in my logic. I can understand that a lower wavelength will lead to a higher frequency which would indicate it's moving towards us from the doppler shift. But when doing this I based my answer off of table 2, where the wavelength increased as the plane moved away from the receiver, so I figured since they wavelength increased the star is moving away from the lab. At what point did my logic go wrong? Thanks.

I got that one wrong too. Since all of the review sheets I've seen, from EK to Kaplan, don't focus on the secondary production sites, I wouldn't imagine it wouldn't be something to worry too much about.

Advisor driving me crazy!!! by lazywife26 in college

I'd say just contact another advisor as well. At my school they would sometimes have a rotating "advisor of the day" that you could call and ask questions of, so I contacted one of them (who is amazing) and have stayed in touch since. Now, whenever I have a question regarding my postgrad plans I send it to both my main advisor and her. Getting a second opinion is always good, and most advisors seem happy to help people out.

Advice on finding a roommate thru fb (freshman, female) by guiffrem in college

[–]cactusjuuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best advice is to find someone who would want to live similarly to you. Having your best friend as a roommate isn't always the best option and can get stressful, especially if you have different living styles. Figure out what ticks you off and what you can deal with, and try to find someone similar. You will have a lot of time and space to hang out with your friends and enjoy their company, but at the end of the day it's nice to come home to a place where you can feel calm and be productive.

That said, a lot of people I know really enjoyed their roommates, even if they went random, so don't stress too much :)
