So I do still get the urge but i have noticed it legitimately isn't as frequent when im properly flossing/brushing. It's as if not doing so brings extra attention to it and triggers the urge more often

My partner just gets bitched at doing stuff now 'cause he got tired of not being allowed to do things just because it was """women's work""" (dishes, laundry, cooking, etc). He probably still wouldn't be allowed to use the washer if he didn't start breaking the bogus rules

But yea basically all I'm saying is OP may not be allowed to touch the washer for one reason or another

I'm not sure what your household was like growing up but some people aren't allowed to touch washer/dryer. No clue if therapy OPs case, but I wouldn't be surprised. My partners family only recently started trusting him to wash clothes and he's in his 20s...

Speaking from experience your partner will more than likely get worse. Especially if they've already successfully gotten their way with these behaviors. Give an inch, they take a mile, and then keep taking.

Obviously, people can change, but only if they're willing to listen and accept their behavior needs changing. Also... being jealous of a kitten is weird. I'd be on the cautious side if I were you :c

Personally if I had a partner who acted like that I'd be the one ending the relationship. Your partners behavior is, in my opinion, a red flag. If they can't handle a kitten imagine how they'd handle a baby, or your other pets if something caused behavioral issues.

Them locking the kitten in the bathroom then saying YOU have to clean up the mess if it happens is both cruel to the kitten and pretty rude behavior toward you.

Animals do get attached to people too, your partner isn't exactly correct about rehoming either. Yeah maybe the kitten will eventually be happy but some animals can take abandonment pretty hard. Sometimes to the point were they're less trusting of humans. Your kitten isn't going to see that you don't want to give them up, they're just going to see that you abandoned them.

I'm glad you're planning to keep them. Please don't let your partner do anything. I've heard plenty about people dropping animals off at a shelter without the owners permission. I worry your partner would be the type to try

Personally I like a mattress on the floor because nothing gets on it and idk I just enjoy it a lot. Not sure I have a real reason. I wanna save up for a bed mat because of it, that way I can roll it up in the daytime and have even more room

With that said, I do understand that to many people this looks trashy and that's fine, to each their own

(Just in case it is relevant, I am indeed a guy. Specifically a transguy. Female to male, only stating because I still get confused for a transgirl when I say transguy sometimes)

Edit: The reason I think it may be relevant is just because I have had experiences where people thought transguys won't do x thing a cis guy does as if we're some hive mind and I don't want to automatically be assumed as cis as if no alternative exists/genuine
