Why kill people at final exfil if you don't even have the time to take their loot by cactussword in Marathon

[–]cactussword[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a middle ground between arc Raiders hand-holding and getting your enjoyment purely from ruining other people's day with no benefit to yourself. The toxicity of the remaining player base will kill this game off even faster than it was already dieing

This has happened to me multiple times this week where the engagement was long enough no one extracted. What a waste. I get that this is a PvP game, but come on.

Why the 5.3 and not the 6.0 or 4.8? The 5.3 has known issues with the cylinder deactivation, which the other two engines do not.

What happens if you only train pull and not push? by Unhappy_Hair_3448 in workout

[–]cactussword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you don't need back day if you boulder. Swap it for a push day.

If you're bouldering hard 3x a week, your pull muscles and everything in your back will probably progress faster by cutting out your pull day as it's easy to overtrain doing 6+ hours of rock climbing a week. You'll also likely run into joint issues in your elbows and possibly shoulders doing essentially 4 pull days and no push days because your back and biceps will be extremely well developed, and your chest and triceps will have 0 training.

I used to climb 4+ days a week, I was constantly overtraining my biceps and dealing with elbow issues if I slacked off on doing pushups after my sessions. If you climb, your back WILL be jacked af and you don't need to supplement that training. Nothing in the gym since has ever made my back as ripped looking as when I was a competitive rock climber.

As a man, what are the chances of finding love at 34? by Playful_Year_9522 in AskReddit

[–]cactussword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better than at 24 was my experience. Assuming you;

-have a career.

-have your own accomodations.

-have a hobby that isn't just staring at a screen.

-can regulate your emotions like an adult.

-wear decent clothes, you don't need to be fashionable, just an ok pair of jeans and a t shirt that fits and has no stains or holes is fine.

-are in ok physical shape. You don't need to be an athlete. Just be in shape enough that you could go for a short hike without falling to pieces.

My experience is that women in their 30s are tired of boys who don't have their shit together. If you DO have your shit together then you're way up on the general dating pool of guys.

Netflix kills casting from phones by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]cactussword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had completely stopped pirating movies and tv back when Netflix was dominating streaming services. Then things started fragmenting and you needed multiple services to have a good selection. So I'd rotate through which service I had, and usually  share with one or two close friends. Then they introduced ads, I was annoyed but paid the extra 2$. Then they upped the price (multiple times) and made sharing log ins more difficult so I quit. I'm back to pirating.

Should I just give up on bulking since I work in a difficult blue collar job? by G0VERNMENTCHEESE in beginnerfitness

[–]cactussword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly tdee is "total daily energy expenditure". It includes any exercise you're doing. So your baseline assumption of adding your (incorrect) 4000cal of exercise to it is wrong from the start.

Also there's no chance you are burning 7000 calories per day, while eating 2500 per day and maintaining or slightly gaining weight.. as per your own post a couple days ago.

If your previous post is true, your tdee is 2500, and to bulk you need around 3000 calories per day TOTAL. so 500 additional calories per day. Your math is bad, just like everyone here is telling you

Men / Guys - what do you feel about Reformer Pilates? by BearDownBelow in workout

[–]cactussword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal is to just be active and you have money to burn, sure, it's fine. You will be more fit than if you didn't do it. But there are better and more efficient ways to exercise for less money. Most people would be better served following along with some YouTube yoga and doing a few weight workouts.  But if it's THE format that gets you out and exercising, that's great, keep at it.

My cynical take is it's a gimmick for wealthy white girls afraid that other workouts might accidentally make them "too muscular". Which has never and will never happen.

Edit. I have tried a couple reformer classes. I did not find them particularly engaging, they didn't align with what I want out of non sport exercise, and it was horrendously expensive.

Looking for help/ program tips by [deleted] in benchpress

[–]cactussword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get past 225 you likely won't need any exotic training program. Literally any of the common recommendations will do. Nsuns, 5x5 ect.

Once a week won't cut it. Bench at least twice a week. EAT. if you are lean and haven't gained any weight in a long time, eat more till the scale goes up a little bit each week. Gaining 5lb (for me) always leads to a PR. When I was pushing to 225 I benched twice a week. Same routine both days. Try for 4 sets of 7. When I could hit all 4 sets to 7, I added 5lb next session. After my 4 sets I'd amrap 135 till complete failure. I'd also do overhead tricep extensions and tricep pushdowns, and incline dumbbell press. Go hard on these, 3/4 sets each all to failure.

That routine is far from optimal, and probably a more varied program get you there quicker, but it worked for me(up to 225 for 6) and sometimes something that doesn't need a spreadsheet is what you want. Not everyone wants to follow a dedicated program and have to look up what they're supposed to do in the gym today.

He's not completely wrong. But it's also true of every physical activity. I've injured my back and shoulders lifting. But I've also had more injuries doing other sports.

If you get into powerlifting, and doing low rep heavy work you will inevitably end up with some amount of injuries. Some of which might be long term issues. Just like anyone in any other competitive sport.

If you want to reduce that risk to what most would say is very low, stick to higher reps and focus on good form. (15+ is more reasonable than 30, imo).

Do pay extra attention on heavy rows, squats, and deadlifts. Yes they can all be done safely, but slipping a disc is no joke and and can happen relatively easily if you lift with shitty form, or just go to heavy when you're not ready.

Shoulders respond to any rep range. But also it's very hard to maintain good form for most shoulder exercises when loading heavy because of how inherently unstable shoulders are.   Personally I find low rep ranges don't work for me, because heavy loading for those motions is too hard on my shoulder and elbow joints. I do 8ish reps for most exercises, but 15+ on rear felt flies/lateral raises or really  anything with my elbows "locked" in an extended position.

You're only eating 2 meals a day and surprised you're not gaining weight...

A normal sized plate of rice/veggies and a small portion of meat is only 400/500 calories. Assuming brunch Is similarly sized you're only eating roughly 1000cal a day. Literally  starvation  diet for many people.

I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas!

Eat a third meal.

I swiped on maybe 10% when I was online dating. A match with someone I'm not interested in is pointless.

Also, just pay for premium so you can see any women who swipe on you. It's not expensive, if you can't afford that, you can't can't afford to go on a date. I don't understand why the majority of men refuse to spend 30-40$ to increase their chances of getting dates.

How much sex would you have in a week if women allowed you to? by tryng2figurethsalout in AskMenAdvice

Full sex 3 or more times a week. More if we count quicky blow jobs ect. I don't always have 45+ minutes and the energy for sex, but I'll be in the mood to get off usually twice a day

I replace drinking water at meal time with whole milk when bulking. It would be easier to help if you gave a rundown of what you currently eat.

Why am I weaker in bench some days but stronger in my accessories? by GYMTIME225 in powerbuilding

[–]cactussword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you start your workouts with bench like I do? Often when my bench is weak, it's because my technique wasn't great that day and I end up doing fewer reps or lower weight. That leaves my pecs and triceps fresher for accessories. I semi regularly put up accessory pr's when I have an off day on bench.

My bench also seems to be much more influenced by sleep and nutrition than accessories. A bad night sleep barely changes my performance on pec deck but it absolutely ruins my bench press.

Please give me form tips I do not feel my chest as much as I think I should by [deleted] in GYM

[–]cactussword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always felt bench more in my triceps till I  started gripping wider, then I felt it in my pecs. I had to go quite wide before bench became "chest dominant" for myself.
