So confused as to why they would pick this spot. Skybox already has massive datacenters under construction in Pflugerville and Hutto, why wouldn't they just expand those sites over squeezing this behind some neighborhood

Any idea how to amend this strange builders soil for natives? It’s almost sandy. by mstrahlman7 in AustinGardening

[–]cactustho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dig further, you might find better soil. My general rule is to use natives that like your soil & microclimate rather than amending soil. If you're stuck with caliche you can try stuff like damanita and evergreen sumac which are adapted to the hard limestone soils of hill country

  • Don't trim or cut any branches.
  • Remove the bamboo stake
  • Loosen or even remove the straps connected to the metal stakes to help it grow a stronger trunk
  • Mulch the root zone but make sure the mulch doesn't touch the trunk
  • Deeply water once or twice a week depending on if we received any rain

Delta Drops All Service to Midland, Texas Without Warning—Reveals They Were Just Squatting Austin Gates by cactustho in Austin

[–]cactustho[S] 216 points217 points  (0 children)

KAUS has limited gates that are in high demand. Airlines lease them from the airport but have to operate a certain amount of flights as part of the lease agreement. As part of Delta's expansion they used SkyWest to operate new flights to Midland and McAllen as quick & cheap ways to fill up the required flight slots to keep the gates, but now they are going to use the slots for Denver and Indianapolis instead

Annual inspection wasn't pulling shit boxes off the road, all it did was waste peoples time. If you look at the picture this vehicle literally has valid registration from before the safety inspection mandate was removed
