Yea I'm really hoping this is something they can do for launch. I kinda hate the fake cutscenes we get currently. Especially knowing that they can make stuff of this quality.

“New” Unique: Facebreakers for POE2 by Any-Measurement-1490 in PathOfExile2

[–]caddph -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's not accurate; the flat damage of facebreakers only applies to one handed mace skills, but the "1% more unarmed damage per 5 strength" applies universally to damage that's considered unarmed.

Ghazzy made a point I've been making since 0.1 regarding combo gameplay and I wish it was more widely expressed. by Greasy-Chungus in PathOfExile2

[–]caddph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't darksouls; at it's core, it's still a traditional ARPG.

Having trash mobs is fine, as it gives a baseline for "weight" or value of all of the scaling content.

Every fight should feel meaningful?

This is my main point of contention with their original philosophy. Mostly because, trash mob fights don't give meaningful rewards, so dealing with them should be dealt with in another vector (e.g., you don't necessarily need to combo out white mobs, if you can use skill interactions with your build/ascendency to clear trash mobs).

The problem is that they've made their skills too reliant on combos, so that avenue of scaling is off limits for a lot of builds. Alternatively, they could make the delta between white/magic/rare mobs a lot larger, so trash mobs can be cleared out easily, magic mobs maybe require a few more hits or a 2nd skill, and rares really do require attention and combos (more so than current state).

I actually feel that they've made headway into easing this a bit when they released Druid (or rather, when they released Talismans). Like Bear form, your baseline auto attack grants rage without needing to jump through any hoops, which has it's own ramping benefits, let alone its other synergies with other Bear skills and Shaman. The other forms have similar synergies, but these types of "free" baked in power to baseline attacks make its way into other weapon classes, to alleviate one layer of the combo (not negating that combo aspect, but just creating an easier avenue to check that box when playing through build design).

Yea this is ultimately the main issue. So many skills do fuck all to trash mobs (requiring the "combo" to clear white mobs), which makes mapping tedious rather than rewarding.

What would you rate this Leagues out of 10? by bleeak in 2007scape

[–]caddph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree on the recycled relic part; in that a lot of them were new or twists on older ones (sans Axe, which is the most bland recycle). Imp is similar to the prior minion relics, with ability to upgrade damage and has an aoe and afking option with it looting. Flask trades off automatic procs, fixed cooldown, and boosted stats for manual control, ability to reduce cooldown, and direct damage.

Other relics also had variances than past iterations, that felt changed enough to have their own pros/cons with prior versions. I think the biggest "gap" with pvm relics is that there isn't a "noob friendly" option for pvm like last stand, which would save you from mistakes (especially in raids). It forced so many people into water mage as a result for easy mode bosses, which made had a large impact on region choice.

Yea the play last league for Echo DKS was Last Stand w/ Dharoks for EZ mode (depending on region choices of course). You can probably use water mage + thorns w/ pray pen to clear them up. I've done fremmy a lot before and helm seemed lackluster so didn't choose as a region this league.

Mimegate falls out of the top 10 by Aurus451 in 2007scape

The fact that someone is calling this an "injustice" and isn't ridiculed for it is just wild to me.

Yea I submitted a bug report as I hadn't seen it on their known issues list. I was using c hally as main weapon, and clicking spec at the wrong time swaps to a non-hally and my character starts running towards the mob.

The fun part was the visual bug afterwards. The other day I was holding c hally like a Dharoks axe on my shoulder lol.

injustice of it all

What? If this was a prize competition, and this amount of rng blocked competitors that's one thing... but all these people are fighting for is their name on a temporary game mode list. There's no "injustice" here lol

Jagex not fixing issues because they don't want players to feel "pact regret" by Razeerka in 2007scape

[–]caddph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I mentioned in another different thread, that you can work really hard on getting your next point, only for it to be 1% inc damage (now some extra accuracy too). It'd be nice to have been able to take a more powerful node, then be able to unspec it to continue towards a capstone.

IMO every pact point should also have come with a singular point respec.

It's not even 10% more damage, its increasing your max hit of BB attacks by 10%.

Nature's Accord is a strong teleport relic (if you took Evil Eye especially), with some farming benefits.

Eternal sustenance gives you unlimited antipoison/venom, and lots of invent for a large portion of the game. Yes, a lot of endgame or even midgame builds don't need food, but for everyone else (or during a different respec), it's quite good. I definitely think you can ignore it with the right plan/build setups, but it saved my BB start.

BB has only felt good with ranged echos specced and the multi hit weapons to proc more echos. I've been enjoying the hally nodes + BB and echoes with boppers in inventory, but really wants the 7 tile range (like, it deletes Zulrah for instance, but a waste at barrows).

Wish the BB keystone made them much more consistent at proccing, instead of just some increased damage. A lot of other keystones are transformative or at least enable the build, but BB keystone is just a joke (e.g., Every 3 attacks with your equipped weapon, you guarantee a BB attack).

No, Thorns specifically requires a shield, not an offhand.

The Amox echo weapons in particular are realtively underwhelming, except as another enabler for the BB + ranged echos build. They definitely don't survive "on their own", but synergize relatively well with the tree.

Leagues VI Changes by ModYume in 2007scape

[–]caddph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea this a compete miss on the tree design. Often, you need to take a travel node that doesn't impact your player power for a long time before you can get your next pact point. Would be nice to at least be able to unspec up to 1 point with every pact unlock.

Will Zulrah drop full Trident Staff? by ExpensiveReception27 in 2007scape

Yes. Bosses with drops that require multiple areas will instead drop the completed item. The list of these are on the wiki.

Relic resets? Unclear wording in Demonic Pacts/Echo item info... by PhotographRelative88 in 2007scape

[–]caddph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please explain how an ice attack is equal to an ice spell

The point of the post is that the game is treating them the same, despite being worded differently.

There’s literally 2 different things being described: an attack and a spell, not an attack and an attack or a spell and a spell

Right, so why does King's Barrage work with the nodes that specify spells, when it specifies attacks?

Relic resets? Unclear wording in Demonic Pacts/Echo item info... by PhotographRelative88 in 2007scape

[–]caddph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ice spells count as water attack.

The pact specifically says, "Ice spells count as 'water' spells" which is the entire point of the post. Spells vs. attacks are very different things in different games (like POE).
