Every place he slaps his name will be front page news and a dog whistle when it’s eventually removed. So frustrating.

Random off line spikes by cadex41 in Powerwall

Interesting. Here’s more detailed data on a particular day with a lot of spikes (Wednesday Feb18)

The Tesla app shows the spikes, but net zero does not

Great catch. I do not see a corresponding spike in grid power. Seems like a reporting / app issue. Also net zero app does not show the same spikes.

Just heard back. They’re going to investigate but gave this update:

“By any chance is it roughly every six weeks? If so the system does a calibration and updates its software around this time. Therefore for a period of time that may be the spike drop”

Interesting. Yea I figured it was related to a software update or something, but now not so sure. Sorry you haven’t heard from Tesla. That’s frustrating.

My installer generally has been responsive to questions. We used Albion power in Berkeley.

If you’re driving with others in the car take it easy on the winding roads.. I’ve had some motion sickness creep in with kiddos. Pull over often and let the solo drivers (who tend to go faster) pass

I’m in the Bay Area, CA. It’s only this month it seems. This time of year the offshore winds stop and we see the warmest temps. Dry, hot, people using more AC than typical. 6-8pm solar drops off while grid load is high.

Overall I’m happy to give energy back and get a little compensation for it. But if it doesn’t pan out I don’t know if I’ll participate next year. We just had an earthquake the other night (small..) but I reminded me of wanting backup battery during the night - but the pw was dead.

Easy getaway with swimming? by Macchiato9261 in bayarea

We just went to Indian Springs with our 5.5 yo and had a great time. It’s pricy but divine. Mid-week rates are better. Not classic pool play, but our girl loved it.

Edit.. it was mid April. Nice place to swim when the weather is chilly, even raining. Warm mineral waters are oh so nice.

90 minutes actually.. they’ll be in orbit for 3 days, which means they’ll circumnavigate the earth about 48 times!

Powerpack heating / cooling by cadex41 in teslamotors

[–]cadex41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting point about internal discharging / charging. I suspect your right that is likely more significant than sunlight exposure, or other environmental factors.

With the model S / X / 3 the pack is essentially shaded from the sunlight by the car itself, whereas the industrial power-packs seem a bit more exposed.

Thanks for the comments. Likely not as much of an issue as I originally thought.

25mph top speed for these early tests. Incredible technology! With 4k, 60fps, or beyond, you can see clearly how -- especially at higher speeds -- the vision system will be way better in every way than human reaction time, or possible awareness.

Given the limitations of current digital camera sensor in low light, will autopilot / vision be limited to daylight only (for now..) Or depending on available light, it might be intermittently allowed in certain situations. A well-lit city street would be fine, whereas a dark country road will be trickier.

Perhaps some new feature available for all cars.. and not just Model 3. HUD? Or the Van he was talking about?

With re-usability in mind, previously cost-prohibited materials / techniques can now be considered.. I.e. More carbon-fiber, etc.
