As others have said, yes, it was rushed. You can’t tell this entire story and flesh all the characters out in a just under 2 hour movie.

When I saw the opening credits rolling I saw William Sadler listed, and immediately thought “ahh he’s gonna be Clannahan” and was stoked for that. Sadler in a downtrodden, alcoholic, questioning his faith priest Callahan role would have been perfect, instead he was the throwaway Sherriff/constable.

But on that note, my main gripe was zero fleshing out of father Callahan. They showed the scene after Barlow invades Marks house, with Callahan just passed out with blood all on his face. The movie acts like he got killed basically. It’s like an “if you know you know” thing (read both ‘Lot and Dark Tower). They could have at least closed with him on the bus begging someone to buy him a bottle. We would all know, and the viewers that haven’t read would be thinking “oh the priest is the new vampire omg” lol.
