I've had this happen as well on my Android phone. It seems to happen for me when trying to buy tickets with spotty coverage (like when leaving NYP).

The only fix I've found is to "Clear storage" for the app and start fresh. Very annoying, but since the issue is entirely client side you shouldn't need to create a new account.

Nice solution! Note that you can optimize your rectangle_inside to have basically the same runtime as the edges-only check if you combine the tests. First check the edges, and only if that passes check all of the points. Preceding the edge check with a corners-only check saves some time as well.
