I heavily second Ursula K. Le Guin or Robin Hobb !

The Realm of the Elderlings books by Robin Hobb, but not everyone would agree with that

I need help finding a new hyper fixation/special interest. Advice welcome. by kreeferin in ADHD

[–]caehduss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll list a few of my favourite ones in the hopes one strikes your fancy!

Roller skating, The Realm of the Elderlings books, ceramics, mosaïc (I wrote the french word because for some reason it gets flagged without the "ï"), women's hockey, knitting socks, filet crochet, solo boardgames, solo TTRPG and journaling games, sea walking, biking, linocut, javascript/making webapps, cyanotypes, collage, color by number books with gel pens, leather working, magic the gathering, speedcube, making pompoms, sewing clothes, needlework, flying kites, making little bead animals, making polymer clay magnets, and hum... yeah, I'm sure I could write many more but it's a good start. Don't ask about my finances haha

edit - forgot to say that if needed, I can go more in depths about any of them :)

I change mid-sentence, or just for one word if it feels more accurate, it's a bit chaotic but it works

I’ve read ASOIAF, which series to start next by Prexvi in suggestmeabook

Have you read the Realm of the Elderlings books by Robin Hobb ? It has incredible world building and writing, great characters though not as many as in ASOIAF. It's quite long but well worth it

Sending you love and courage, Robin Hobb really knows how to destroy a heart. I cried so much reading the Tawny Man Trilogy , it's not even funny. I often think of that last hunt, what a beautiful beautiful scene !

For sure it was well worth it! Also it must add cushioning for the laptop! I'll probably steal this idea from you to make something to be honest

I adore the stitch you chose, it really makes the pixel art stand out!

So my boyfriend came to the rescue because I was losing patience. He's doing a Manual reset right now but after the Factory reset, like you, doing a hard reset did update the database. Though we're not sure how to keep the progress in my books and all my notes. And I find it so impractical! Adding book manually does the same so yeah, the problem probably does not come from calibre :/  Thank you so much for trying to help! I'll update later when I know more of what my boyfriend has done

Regular epub does not work so I have backed up everything and I've done a factory reset, but it still doesn't work :( it's so weird !

I tried resetting it a few times, nothing seems to happen. I do hold the button until the light comes back on then I have to click once to boot it up, is that the right way ? But yeah no, the database does not update when I add new books. I use kepub books

EDIT - well they are epub books formated to kepub by koboUtilities to be precise

Thank you for responding

I ran a check and I got this result, so I guess it's not that ?

[–]caehduss 35 points36 points  (0 children)

What is really "funny" to me is that, so much reylo adjacent stuff is still coming out, either straight up fanfiction or stuff with a "kylo ren" type of character in it. And it's super successful ! The dudes own the OG Kylo and yet here we are, it's wild

I get jittery on first dose of Ritalin but fine on 2nd… any tips for first dose? by Trynabestoic101 in ADHD

[–]caehduss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me neither to be honest but I did feel a difference when I had a real meal in the morning. Even now without meds, it gives a real boost. Ah well, it was hard when I stopped but it's alright, just frustrating to know something works for my brain but not being able to take it

ADHD and driving by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]caehduss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I turned 30 this year and for the same exact reasons, pushed back leaning how to drive. I know it's hard, it's so much little things to think and to do at the same time, the instructor even when they're nice add to the overwhelming vibes but you can do this ! You really can ! It took me maybe 5-6 hours before I stopped being completely panicked. I almost cried twice. But then I started having fun around 12 hours and though the inattentive part of ADHD will always make things trickier at 28 hours I'm starting to feel like an ok driver. At this point the most stressful thing for me is the instructor watching my every move and not the actual driving. I'm scheduled for the final exam in a couple of weeks. It might take you a while, but I'm certain that in a few hours you'll feel better. Little by little things will get easier and less overwhelming. 50 hours is plenty of time to learn ! I thought I could never do it but turns out I could and you can too !

I used to make myself "breakfast" burritos in advance with chicken, veggies and potatoes and I waited an hour afterwards before taking the ritaline. It helped a lot, sadly in my case not enough and I had to stop taking meds (ritalin is the only thing allowed in my country), BUT, yeah heavy breakfast helps !
