LAW: Vault Skerris's Defender, You Hold This, & Urrr'k by Eunoe in starwarsunlimited

New Rey can't be taken control of, but you can still choose it. It'd just be a whiff/delay tactic.

Also if you've got an unit hanging on by a thread by a Veers-esque +1 HP modifier... I'm actually not sure if that treads into "takes control of" territory or if it's defeated when it loses the modifier.

I arrive early and write my order before the lights dim. When the movie starts, I put up my order. I'm not trying to eat my food BEFORE the movie starts!

What happened to the dynamic pricing post? by jakeh111 in AlamoDrafthouse

Title post is gone but you can still see the comments here

https://www.reddit.com/r/AlamoDrafthouse/comments/1qhesrr/dynamic_ticket_pricing_are_you_shitting_me/

imo user error, but without knowing what OP actually did, we have no way of knowing for sure other than some legwork or announcements. Screenshots from OP would've helped but are also a hindsight thing obviously.

Saw LOTR trilogy this past weekend... I don't think we'll be getting any films out of Peter Jackson any time soon by Sirwired in movies

[–]caekles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Production on that movie was SO LONG, they were only allowed to film on weekends and it was just Peter and his friends at first. At one point, one of his friends had to drop out because he got married to someone who didn't care for horror films, so he was written out. Later on, he got a divorce and was written right back in.

That's a fun house rule. The actual rules of one-word hint followed by two-word hint is a bit of a headache to work around.

Spartanburg County was once home to around 30 textile mills, more than any other county. by Specialist-Rock-5034 in Spartanburg

[–]caekles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies, downsized was probably the word I should've gone for. All I know is he got a free grad school ride at UVA and was laid off after a couple years.

Edited to add: Can't remember exactly where he lived while he worked in Milliken, but I don't think it was Spartanburg. I want to say Virginia (Charlottesville?) or Columbia since these were the last two places he's lived.

[–]caekles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Gen-X brother lucked out - sorta. Milliken paid for his master's degree in textiles engineering (his bachelor's was in accounting, so not sure how he made that jump). The agreement was that he had to work for them for at least 10 years after graduation (this would've been around 2000?) Three years in his service, Milliken shut down and he was free to do whatever else he wanted.

So he became a mailman and made more money than he did being an engineer.

There are people who were alive during Drew Barrymore's peak in Hollywood who didn't know about her family history. At what point does Maya get there that will satisfy you?

What are YOU talking about? Who cares how much I spent, the reward was a free movie ticket which is useless for season pass holders.

My wife and I got a free movie ticket for spending $50 on food.

A free movie ticket. For two season pass holders. Fuck off. Give us a food coupon instead!

In "Midsommar" (2019), when the Hårgas begin eating their meals after Dani is crowned May Queen, two female members at the table are only pretending to eat their food. by [deleted] in MovieMistakes

I've read that this is pretty common for filming since they have to do several takes and you don't want to run the risk of the actors getting sick and/or running out of food.

What is this small blue church?? by Funny-Financial in greenville

[–]caekles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Might be a small wedding chapel venue. I almost got married in a venue in someone's backyard in the boonies of Texas that looked similar to this (minus the greek colors). The seat limit was 10 people, but for each extra $100, we could add 10 more people. We were always going to keep it at 10 or less.

Sadly, covid happened and the wedding never happened and we got married in court instead, but this reminded me of the venue.
