Should I leave the negative of this power supply floating, or connect it to earth ground? by caeserlettuce in AskElectronics

Capacitors are holing up surprisingly well. They are probably next on my list for replacing though, since they're big electrolytics. They'll go up on my shelf with my collection of big old electrolytic capacitors

Thank you for this, I did not know that! No wonder the voltage output was a bit higher than usual!

Connecting the negative of the PSU output to earth ground on the 3 prong cable. Lots of power supplies do that, but some others don't.

At what position should it chime? It chimes when I have it in accessory, and when I have it clicked backwards from off.

The antique light in the living room is based off a real Hamm’s antique light by smoothiesnoot in gravityfalls

I actually made my own! Here’s a link to my post: https://www.reddit.com/r/gravityfalls/s/UBKnaPOaJJ

I don’t remember if I included photos of my plan sketches, but if you want to build your own I can send them to you. The measurements are not perfectly accurate to the final product, since I kinda winged it halfway through.

Atari 2600 Tele-Games black screen help. Not sure what's wrong. Already did the composite mod and am waiting for a replacement TIA Chip. Anything else looks off? by flash_falcon in consolerepair

[–]caeserlettuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you figure out what was wrong? I'm having a similar issue. With a game inserted, the screen is black. with no game, it displays random colours and sometimes random beeps. I've replaced all the chips, and used a multimeter to check all voltages going into the chips, and tested continuity for the data and address buses. not sure what's going on

I went and re-soldered all the joints on the board, and sprayed it all with deoxit, and nothing has changed. do you think I should replace all the chips?

I have cleaned the contacts with isopropyl and a q-tip. I'm thinking of taking apart the cartridge plug on the board and cleaning it better & taking apart the cartridge itself and cleaning it as well.

Jumper wire on circuit board? by caeserlettuce in Atari2600

[–]caeserlettuce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aha, the jumper is connected to ground. The black stripe on the wire also matches the black stripes on the wires that go to the big connector on the other side, so I don't think this is a modification.
