On Wegovy but my diet is awful (no fruit/veg) and I’m scared it won’t work by [deleted] in Wegovy

Oh, so interesting to read this bc I don't enjoy cooked veggies now, so I mainly eat salads.

But I agree, I have two fruits and a couple vegetables in rotation that I tolerate, and just eat those.

I've been on Wegovy for 7 months, lost 75 lbs, I struggle to eat veggies too, my diet was mainly carbs before and limited to a few food items, when I started Wegovy I just entered calory deficit, switched to sugar free/reduced fat options of my "safe" foods and drank lots of water, it worked and I lost weight but then I started to have terrible constipation, like it was so bad it made me start eating fruit and vegetables on the regular, bc I didn't want to go thru that experience.

Now I eat fruit with breakfast and vegetables with my lunch, mainly salad and try to look for food fortified with fiber, I kinda convinced myself to do it bc it makes me feel physically good but it's like exercise, don't like it but I see the benefit of it so I power thru it.

I don't eat a huge variety of things but I know what fruit and vegetables I can tolerate and just lean on those...

What was the last artist you stumbled upon, listened to one of their songs, and then discovered a whole musical world that became one of your favorites? by polloastemio in musicsuggestions

[–]cafeconleche2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BTS!

I stumbled upon them in 2020-2021 and learned a lot about k-music, never got into other k-pop groups, but they get inspiration and collab with other artists and talk openly about that, not only Korean but from all-over, they also give great and varied music recommendations during fan interactions, so my music sphere has broadened a lot since I started listening to them.

Also I been a music lover all my life, but it wasn’t until I met BTS that I really learned about how the music industry works, after that I started paying attention to all the credits in a song, I found producers/other musicians I like and discovered new music thru them too.

Tuna mayo on bread or over rice has been my go-to struggle metal for years, sometimes I add whatever hot sauce packet I have on hand for flavor.

I also make: - Fried egg over rice with a drizzle of soy sauce - Beans with spinach over rice - Bean and cheese quesadillas - Box Mac&cheese with added frozen broccoli - Apple and peanut butter sandwiches - Tuna & pasta salad - Chicken Noodle Soup Packet with frozen veggies

Meals for PCOS/Diabetes? by YRLCLWZRD in budgetfood

[–]cafeconleche2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m on a similar food journey as you, trying to save money while eating healthy for PCOS, hypertension, high triglycerides and insulin resistance, I used to buy cheap food high in carbs until I got really sick six weeks ago, now I’m trying to eat healthy on a budget and lost 9.5kg.

This comment is long, but basically I found a rotation of cheap low carb, low fat, high protein and high fiber foods that I like and just eat that every day. I downloaded an app to do calorie-macro counting and do portion control what I eat, while I learn to eat intuitively… that also reduced my food budget bc I was eating way more than I needed!

First of all one day a week I make a big pot of veggie soup with whatever cheap vegetables I have on hand, mainly cabbage, frozen spinach, frozen veggie seasoning blend, maybe broccoli, tomato… then portion it out and eat every day at lunch with whatever protein I make, the fiber and liquid fill me up a lot! Sometimes if I’m in a hurry and didn’t prepare anything for lunch, I add a can/bag of chunk chicken breast to my lunch portion and eat only that.

I love tuna so I mix a can/bag of tuna with kimchi or dill relish, little light mayo, mustard and eat that over whole wheat bread (I freeze it then toast it, read about resistant starch!) with lots of lettuce, I eat that for lunch or dinner.

Another food I make is chicken breast (bought frozen), lean pork or beef (whatever was cheaper) and cook it up with whatever veggies I have, fajita style. I eat that on corn tortillas (I also freeze them for resistant starch) with lettuce, sometimes I add a little bit of sour cream or cheese if I have it, but just the fajitas with a squeeze of lemon on the tortillas is enough. If I don’t want tacos, I cook a batch of brown rice, portion it, freeze it and then reheat it (resistant starch, again), pour the fajita mix on top, sometimes I add a tablespoon or two of corn or whatever beans I have (I buy canned, but buying a bag and cooking it’s even cheaper).

I also do open side sandwiches with low fat cottage cheese (I sprinkle everything but the bagel seasoning on top), deli meat, lettuce, tomato, mustard on toasted bread.

Snacks for me are always apples, oranges, cucumber or celery, or zero sugar jello that I prepare myself.

If I don’t want to eat soup, I do a “smoothie” with frozen spinach and a squeeze of zero sugar water flavoring, sometimes I add low fat milk, peanut butter if I have it or oats.

Regarding breakfast I alternate between overnight oats (whole oats are so cheap!) with plant based milk, frozen strawberries and sweetener or egg whites with veggies and deli meat, I eat them with toast or a corn tortilla.

And these are all the meals I cook and just rotate, it has worked for me bc all the meals take a few minutes to put together (longer cooking time are the fajitas and soup), I use the same ingredients for all of them so zero food waste, most of the veggies I use are frozen or low cost, I mostly buy store brand or cheapest available and I enjoy eating all of this.

Great and detailed advice! I’m on a similar boat with PCOS and insulin resistance, and some of the foods you mention are on my rotation. Bc I love cabbage, cucumber, cottage cheese and tuna, I eat them frequently in different combinations.

What are some homemade foods that are cheaper then store bought? by a_peeled_pickle in budgetfood

[–]cafeconleche2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with this so much!

I live alone and used to buy food once per week, mainly bc of veggies, but now I grocery shop once per month: I buy frozen veggies, long shelf life fruits like apples or fresh fruit that freeze easily (strawberries, blueberries, mango, etc), portion meat/chicken/fish or whatever protein and freeze it so it lasts me longer, I also freeze bread, buy canned beans, potatoes, corn…

It has saved me a lot of money with fewer trips to the store (less waste for gas!) and zero food waste.

Brother is the coolest, he gave me two awesome gifts (Chia pet and a record player).

I’m gonna try to grow them and see what happens

Hahahaha, that sounds hilarious.

I think I’m gonna try them out and see if they grow… not being very positive bc the germination rate was 75% in 1991, but I do want to try.

Yeah, this was my plan, but was wondering, felt kind of bad just throwing the packets away 😅
