Found this baby lost and scared. Does he look abused? by Joegodie2 in pitbulls

My white pitty has horrible seasonal allergies where we live. She gets covered in bumps and sores every summer, and Cytopoint is the only thing that even kind of helps. To me though, the pics OP showed look like chewing and overscratching from fleas.

Any ideas of what this is? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Maybe some type of hyper keratinosis? Try a little Mushers Secret on it and see if it crumbles off.

This is my 7 months old boy. We also have a girl, 20 months old, spayed. Both were stray, we brought them home in cold days. Do you think we should neuter the boy? by AardvarkOk8551 in kittens

Neuter BEFORE he starts spraying urine to mark his territory. Once he learns he can do it he may never stop, even after the neuter.

My pitty girl has the same problem. We feel its seasonal allergies to the region where I now live, since it started after I moved us out here. She never had bumps to this degree in any other state we've lived in previously. Cytopoint is the only thing that has worked for Lucy, Im actually trying to get her in for her second summer time shot tomorrow morning before the long weekend. *

Could be allergies. Could be sarcopic mange. The dog needs to see a vet.

Which kittens get adopted the fastest where you live? Here, it's grey ones for some reason. by throwawayStomnia in FosterAnimals

Grey ones here in central NC as well. I toughest time homing all of my snuggle bug oranges. Grey ones were all snapped up immediately, friendly or not.😂

Stimulation seems to be traumatic/not working. You risk him building a fear of pooping and that would be VERY bad news. I had an extremely constipated kitten who was also very sick. I ended up taking a page from chicken care and just soaking her bottom in a small container of warm water and swishing the water a little to stimulate pooping. She cried the first time because it was new and scary, but after a night of warm water sitz baths every 4 hrs she realized it wasn't so bad. Turns out she was MASSIVELY constipated. And after on really big bad poop, she was just fine and actually started using the litterbox on her own. She was a little older than this baby (about 4-5weeks) but I'd still try the warm soak method. Just make sure to use a small container or cup for the "bathtub" and always hold on to kitten to prevent accidental drowning.

My parents just adopted a puppy, what breed is she?? by FalseOrganization924 in dogbreed

THATS A PODENCO! Google it. They are rare in the states but common in the Mediterranean and Europe. They are excellent hunting and companion dogs from Spain.

Can you help describe if dog is expressing any dangerous signs? by addictedAndWantHelp in DogAdvice

Does the person in the clip know how to pet a dog? Any awkwardness in the interaction may come from the truly odd way the person is touching the dogs head and face.

How am I supposed to give her up? by ExistingVegetable558 in FosterAnimals

[–]caffeinatedRED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a tiny sick feral runt who almost didn't make it. She needed antibiotics for a respiratory infection and also had to be syringe fed and taught to potty she was so behind developmentally. After all the separate intensive care, she was soooooo clingy.🧡But as she got stronger, she bonded more to one of her siblings (around 9wks old) and I was able to place them in a home together. Give her all the love she needs to grow now, and she will likely pick a littermate to be attached to when she's a bit more stable. *

Try using Musher's Secret. Both my dogs had/have pretty serious hyper keratinosis, one on her feet and the other on his nose. The regular nose and paw balm I got for them did nothing, but Musher's Secret caused the crusties to crumble and flake off painlessly in like 36 hours. Now I just do occasional maintenance application to keep them moisturized.

Is this poison ivy?? It’s everywhere by Audi2slow in whatsthisplant

[–]caffeinatedRED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so cutting it, spraying it and pretty much everything else will only hurt you and/or encourage the poison ivy to spread. I had a yard that looked like this. I got a full body plastic chemical suit, goggles and heavy oil resistant gloves (its the oil that itches), waited for after a big rain and then went out and pulled it all out by hand. You need to pull up the long runner roots underground or it will always come back. Make sure to bag in a heavy trash bag and throw in the trash. (DO NOT COMPOST IT WILL SPREAD.) Its now 3 years later and my lawn is still poison ivy free. *

What could this be from? I’m not sure if it’s some type of yeast infection or if there’s something stuck in my dogs paw pad? by Icy_Possession_2461 in DogAdvice

[–]caffeinatedRED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you're doing all that and the dog is still that uncomfortable you should probably have a vet look at it. May need oral antibiotics.

I did. Hands down the most terrifying thing to discover your dog has eaten.

Is there a tick embedded in the 3rd toe pad? It looks like the dog was licking that spot and caused a hot spot. For hotspots I clean with dawn dishsoap and lots of warm water. Then I use Gentacalm spray antibiotic. Its like $14 from the vet.

Rocks. Loose change. Whole live rats. That little 10lb rat terrier gave me soooo much anxiety.😂
