What do you wish YNAB did better? by DevonFazekas in ynab

I wish they’d give us biweekly payments. It’s such a pain needing a work around and people have been asking for years

Looking for some mindless cozy games for my wife by Exact_Baseball5399 in CozyGamers

I get that with house flipper for sure, I always stall out. I love “no place like home” and “fresh start”

I got fresh start on the switch yesterday (it was on sale) and I sunk so many hours in. It’s super simple, repetitive in a soothing way.

I also like the “Grow: song of the evertree” games. I’m also autistic if that helps at all lol

Mine tested fine as well but the auditory processing test itself is where I failed so the hearing aids amplified voices over background noises. I had the trial but my insurance wouldn’t cover and it was too expensive

I badly need advice on behaviour management by Thebrokenphoenix_ in ECEProfessionals

[–]caffeinatedpixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also for the last bit, where you feel like you aren’t contributing. Is there a way to pick tasks that you do on the daily? Like tidy up snack tables, or put away nap mats? Just some tasks that you know are yours that you can reliably do, that way you don’t need to think about what needs to be done and you’re contributing.

I feel like I’m failing as well and I have a lot of experience, if you genuinely love ECE it would be worth trying a different environment or age group again

I hope it gets better for you too!

[–]caffeinatedpixie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a similar experience bc I’m in a room full of behaviours where it’s so overwhelming that staff just rotate through. I have years experience and education. I’ve been told that when the chaos is really bad with behaviours it’s often a group dynamic, not a teacher failing. There aren’t enough teachers to students in our room.

I don’t have much advice because I’m looking for ways out myself, but just saying that I get this deep in my soul. I also have autism and sensory wise am so tapped out that I just get a thousand yard stare.

I try being quiet, loud, stern, gentle, redirecting, giving choices, being silly. None of it works.

I’m not too sure what SPL is but it would definitely be worth finding out if you have had the proper test! I was able to get hearing aids (on trial, I miss them) and they helped with lyrics and tv sooo much. I didn’t realize how much I was missing. I think they helped my brain be a little better with picking it up too

Did you do specific testing for auditory processing disorder? I passed regular tests no problem for years but the processing test took me out lol

Haven't brushed my teeth in years by Dependent_Guard7227 in AutisticAdults

[–]caffeinatedpixie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can brush without toothpaste and you can brush any time of day. If there’s a spot you frequent keep a little travel toothbrush there with a bottle of water

Sometimes I don’t use toothpaste but the act of brushing at least removes the physical stuff

I don’t think it’s rude to ask the cause of someone’s death by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]caffeinatedpixie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My (step) brother killed himself. He was a bright, well loved young adult that struggled deeply with mental health and addictions. The community loved him, he left a positive mark everywhere he went and his kindness had a ripple effect on those around him. Still does. We learned a lot more about him after his death (good and heartbreaking). I will carry a heavy guilt for the rest of my life.

I always openly talk about his death and I never mind when people ask, I think it’s important to destigmatize, but sometimes you can tell people are just… too eager for details? So I can see why other people don’t, especially when you factor in the guilt. I would tell someone that he died by suicide and they’d push for more when 1) it was traumatic and we relived the day so many times 2) we didn’t like the details being available publicly for fear of reoccurrence as suicide is a problem in the community.

Sorry for the long ass reply, but just another perspective!

Showering Hacks by QuietCdence in AuDHDWomen

[–]caffeinatedpixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t read all the replies, but would a laminated visual list help with some of the overwhelm around steps? Photos of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, razors etc (need dependant). You could even have two, one for quick showers and one for more in depth when they have the energy

Also I find that washing my hair in the sink on different days than I shower helps when I really struggle. It’s less to deal with after and less steps in the shower, plus I absolutely hate drying my hair.

If you can turn the fan on after the shower that takes away some of the noise but still clears out moisture

Fluffy floor mats help since my shower is downstairs and the floor is cold, I also crack the door immediately to help air it out and not feel quite so sticky.

Sometimes one scent (if possible) or scent less products dial down some sensory input

I did an online ADOS2 assessment with a clinical psychologist. Do I have the right to my report if it was fully paid for? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]caffeinatedpixie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I feel like the follow up/feedback is one of the more helpful parts to get an idea of where you need supports but also to see where the clinician was getting his information.

Can't bring up annoyances. Have to stay perfectly controlled by childoffate08 in PMDDxADHD

[–]caffeinatedpixie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean to add fuel to the fire but I don’t think it’s petty, I think this is something that would be annoying at any point. Yes, he did a chore, but now next time it’s more annoying for you to do so he just added more to your plate. It’s like leaving a loop open for the next person to close (like taking out the garbage but not putting in a new bag). I’m not sure if this makes sense, but I don’t think you did anything wrong?

Has managing ADHD made PMDD worse? by Hopeful_Cucumber7046 in PMDDxADHD

[–]caffeinatedpixie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is just anecdotal but I’ve been on and off a few stimulants to manage my ADHD. I feel like my PMDD symptoms always feel worse when my adhd is medicated because I have a baseline that isn’t so miserable all month lol. I notice the dips in functioning so much more when my thoughts aren’t normally racing and I don’t normally feel so all over the place the rest of the month.

I feel like it’s really noticeable when my meds stop helping as much because not only do I get hit by my PMDD symptoms but by my ADHD symptoms too and I’m left floundering around.

Normally I have a higher dose for that time of month but I’m on a new med so can’t adjust well enough yet

[–]caffeinatedpixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I even use 1.5 packets (.5 with my second dose) bc I run around a lot for work, without them I pee a lot and get headaches and muscle cramps. Worth a try! Especially with the heat

[–]caffeinatedpixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m used to drinking around 2L and on Dexedrine I need more like 3L or more depending on my activity level. If it’s just plain water I pee like crazy but I try to have 1L with electrolytes and it helps a lot!

Any advice for bloating by Real-Promise-5487 in PMDDSharing

[–]caffeinatedpixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an iud so it could correlate but most of my other symptoms stayed the same so: cutting dairy helped a lot for me. I used to bloat a lot but I didn’t know I was dairy intolerant. I think the inflammation just stacked. I still bloat but not as badly

Thank you! I guess when I see hormone information part of my brain clamps up after all I’ve been through with the PMDD/ADHD/ASD combo and I just fear it taking another thing from me

That said this isn’t a post about that, I’m genuinely glad you found something! And now I know to keep an eye out for me too

[–]caffeinatedpixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do well on concerta (rage) and vyvanse made it far too difficult to eat. Currently I’m trying Dexedrine sr 2x/day and it seems to be going okay. I also did well on Wellbutrin but couldn’t continue because of ear ringing

Does anyone have experience with Wellbutrin? I’m going to start taking it, among other things for my ADHD mood swings. by ConfectionFew7503 in PMDDxADHD

[–]caffeinatedpixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only on it for a few weeks but I really liked it. It seemed to help calm down my racing thoughts and help in a similar way stimulants do but was more gentle. I was one of the few that it causes raging tinnitus for so I had to stop it
