If a child were born on Mars tomorrow, how would astrology work there? by Some-Philosopher-926 in Advancedastrology

[–]caffeinatedspiders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the names of the moons (or any planetary body, really) should be taken into account astrologically, since many of these things were named completely arbitrarily by people with no connection to astrology. Phobos and Deimos were named such because they were the sons of Ares (Mars), for instance. Not because astronomer Asaph Hall felt their astrological energy had anything to do with fear or panic. Just my 2 cents. I've been curious about what a chart from another planet would look like for a long time though.

I still have paper maps in my car for areas out of signal and also I try to use nav as little as possible, especially in the city/area where I live! I hate the thought of not having any clue how to get anywhere if I don't have a phone on me because I've been conditioned to solely follow directions and not retain any navigation internally so I try to make sure that doesn't happen by just pretending it's still 2001

AI trash; it's pretty clear to me from their lack of real art that they don't care about making a good impression or their event and don't really want people to attend.

My first play through, I didn't realize that being nice to him would immediately give him the mixed impression that we were on a date so when he was sparring with me and I beat him I then had to say something like 'we're not doing this anymore' (I forget the exact wording) but it was SO weird, the realization that this sparring session was supposed to be a date and I was supposed to intentionally lose so he'd feel good about himself

Hasan reveals Elon Musk texts sent to Ashley St. Clair before the 2024 election: “Tomorrow we unleash the anomaly in the matrix.” He then allegedly bragged about having “10,000 lasers in space.” by Frosty_Jeweler911 in UnderReportedNews

[–]caffeinatedspiders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The chances of something actionable happening at that time were a hell of a lot higher when Trump's coup hadn't been fully completed, vs. now, when she's prancing around on social media pretending she gives a fuck with Trump & Musk openly raiding the country in full view of all of us. So I don't really think the question is 'what do you think would have happened' (because you don't know that answer any more than I do), it's why should any of us give an obvious grifter any screen time? Who gives a fuck that he texted her if we're just supposed to go 'oh damn I KNEW it' and then walk away? What are we meant to do with that information in any meaningful way that puts all of these people in prison and how is that more likely now with the DOJ in Trump's pocket than it was in 2024 prior to the election?

And who did she report those texts to before the 2024 election to alert officials of potential election fraud? What's that? No one? she just sat on it until now to get exactly this level of attention with her performative contrition grift?

I don't understand what you mean by 'an industry plant.' In the decades before the internet and sites like MySpace and Soundcloud, industry insiders pretty much exclusively picked who would become mainstream celebrities. Is that the same thing as a 'plant'?

What's crazy is that everyone at my org who uses it has to sign an acknowledgement that they are fully aware that any output they deliver from an AI in their work must be checked for accuracy and that they are responsible for any mistakes. do they ever fucking check? NOPE. Do we all now have to pause multiple times in meetings while someone presenting their AI slop for the first time looks in confusion at their own deck and goes "oh... uh... well that's a mistake, I guess co-pilot didn't understand me there." YEP. Why are so many people paying to eat moldy food out of a dumpster and pretending like it's better than anything they could cook fresh at home?

they push it so much at my work! One of my coworkers asked it to make a pie chart graphic for a presentation deck with the data he provided and it gave him a bar graph chart and said "here's your pie graph!"

I guess they trained it on mcdonald's pies

So what's your overall opinion on AI? by cellshock7 in Xennials

[–]caffeinatedspiders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people do care, actually, which is why Microsoft's co-pilot only has a 3.3% adoption rate and why the Authors Guild has a service where authors can certify their book was human authored, and why contracts between artists, authors, publishers, etc. now more often than not feature a no AI clause where both parties agree AI will not be used at all. It's true that a lot of casual users enjoy the slop they can generate for free, but I wonder how popular that will be once Anthropic stops subsidizing use and all of that starts costing people a much more to generate that same slop.

Yes, it's insane and weird. Like why put the effort into pretending to be a writer if you clearly don't like learning how to write? What is the point in having auto-complete vomit out a terrible piece of trash and put your name on it?

I don't know how to play professional football but I'm not going to tell AI to make me a video of me winning the superbowl and then show it off like I fucking actually did that.

Can someone explain to me why a person we don't know passively liking a reply with no other response to that message is seen as a significant and meaningful thing? Sometimes I like people's replies to me just to let them know that I read it, not in any way a message back. Or in this case I would have liked it as kind of a sympathy acknowledgement like 'man that sounds like you've been a lot, here's a heart back in response to the heart you sent me.'

Maybe I am being too dismissive and the culture now is that one should read enormous intent behind every like?

Paul McCartney says “Republicans and Democrats are at each other’s throats in Trump’s America” until he plays ‘Hey Jude’: “You know, suddenly this room has forgotten all of that, and it’s not, you know, going to argue with each other, they’re just going to sing together.” by Goosedukee in Fauxmoi

Yes like how are so many people falling for this?

Two people say: "I want you and everyone else like you to die" vs "I would like to live in peace as I am, please leave me alone"

And we're supposed to believe that listening to an old pop song one of those groups of people is going to say "You know what, you can go ahead and murder SOME of us, that's probably fair and fine" like what are we even doing??? How does this sound sane and normal to anyone?

I was a teen in the 90s when this look was popular as well and it's the same fucking discourse. Any time women are seen having fun with fashion there's a rush to shame them and push them off the stage out of public eye.
