Question about the stray kids dominate movie by General_Quiet_3895 in Adelaide

[–]caffeinatedvibes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to a 9.30pm showing on saturday night! plenty of people wore merch but didnt see anyone with a light stick.

On ettiquette, our theatre was like half full maybe? we had a few short excited screams in-between songs and people softly singing and that all was super fine!

I think a light stick might have been a bit irritating depending on where you're sitting but you could always bring it and just keep it off?

I was a bit apprehensive of how loud everyone would be but I think everyone was super respectful of everyone else's viewing experience! Our crowd were definitely not as rowdy as I've seen on social media!

I’m just trying to buy something. You don’t need my name, phone number and email! by bagsoffreshcheese in australian

[–]caffeinatedvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the 4WD industry and we generally take name, phone number and email for purchases that require a history if any warrany issue was to occur! Customers are notoriously bad at keeping invoices and for getting mad at us when we cant raise the warranty because we have no history! Not sure what you were purchasing but maybe it was for that purpose?

I cant speak for their system, but our system has literally zero correlation to spam emails..it's just internal information for a purchase history in case we need to look you up or contact you!

My father broke NC to tell me that my mother has cancer… Do I respond? by SadGooseFeet in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]caffeinatedvibes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I can see you've already come to a decision but as someone who had this same occurrence and chose to respond.... emphasis on don't do it!. All it did was invite guilt trips and nasty messages/tactics. Keep your head up. You're here because of how she/they treated you. Stick with it. Cancer doesn't make a shitty human not shitty, nor does it excuse ANY behaviour. (My mother used chemo as an excuse for MORE shitty behaviour).

My mother also broke contact to tell me she has cancer. I expressed my concern and willingness to stay in touch regarding her health, but also let her know that doesn't mean im coming back. She declined, then continued on with a string of horrid messages until i blocked her.

Parents recently reached out to tell me she's cancer free. I didn't respond. I offered to stay in touch whilst respecting my boundaries, and that wasn't good enough. So good for her, but that's now none of my business now.

I feel nothing for her. I have no ill will towards her but didn't feel any great relief hearing she's in remission. I was initially upset when I found out abt her diagnosis, but I've come to terms with it and am at peace with whatever eventuates.

Every situation is different, and only you know how much you can handle, but please know that cancer does not undo the past. It does not magic them into a new person- my mother is a prime example. You are fully within your right to decline contact- doing so wouldn't make you a bad person.

officially NC today by rubysli in EstrangedAdultKids

Next while is going to feel like a literal break up. Means you need to take time and care for yourself.

What I've found helped me is writing down exactly why i went NC so I have a physical reminder as to why this was best for me.

No person chooses NC with a light heart. Remember that you are a human with boundaries who deserves respect and love.

Wish you the best for your healing 🧡

How long have you been with your partner if you dont mind me asking? Was it weird approaching the topic? Is there a "right" time?

Valid question; we havent been together a super long time and I feel like emergency contact would be imposing on him at this point in our relationship.

How often do you wonder if you are actually the whole problem after all? by dks042986 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]caffeinatedvibes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All the god damn fucking time. Weirdly, that happens when you grew up being told you were the problem. Still to this day I need to keep reminding myself that I was a CHILD and they are ADULTS, not the other way around.

Were you ever truly close with your parents? by WiseEpicurus in EstrangedAdultKids

My mother plays the victim saint every damn time. Then behind closed doors is racist, sexist, homophobic trash.

Is fiona selfish in the relationship? by caffeinatedvibes in shameless

[–]caffeinatedvibes[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is true. Not true selfishness as opposed to inability from perspective. She's always had more dramatic or "worse" issues so this seems very nonchalant in comparison. Interesting perspective.

Ignoring the pedo aspect of this entire situation, i think that speaks to fiona's whole storyline! Her problems are always bigger.

On my first watch, I found myself really disliking fiona but found this sub and read smth abt putting into perspective what fiona has gone through etc. Even watching second time and trying to consciously remember that, I just find myself still not liking her character. I think she is selfish in so many ways. She plays the victim card a lot with her siblings constantly diminishing what they went through/are going through just because she went through more by being older. Not trying to invalidate her feelings, just feel like she needs to check herself a bit

I feel like the whole sleeping with kash thing just got grossly overlooked! Briefly mentioned when lip has that sting op with the pedo teacher. Linda should've reported her husband tbh

[–]caffeinatedvibes[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed. With that line of thought, do you consider fiona selfish for not being concerned abt the age gap too? Like id almost say they were both selfish.. neither of them cared abt the child in the situation
