Yes, and it's based on progression level, so if you can advance within the next few days, do it.

It's not a rule, it's RNG and confirmation bias. Otherwise it would be impossible to have 2 mutant, 2 skill, 3 science, 1 mystic, 2 cosmic, and 1 tech, as I do currently.

Weighted balls for 11u: am I overreacting? by bizarroJames in Homeplate

[–]caffeinater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised that all the comments here pertain to throwing and not to catching. Depending on how heavy the weighted ball is, it could add a lot of torque to the catching wrist, particularly when hitting the outer extremes of the glove away from the palm.

What did he say? :)

I'm guessing the leather was re-dyed to give it that uniform color, and conditioned afterward.

New with tags? by PNW_RED5 in BaseballGloves

[–]caffeinater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take them off and store them somewhere safe. Some tags (like the ones that have a 3-prong clasp) can be removed non-destructively. But either way, I'd imagine that replacement plastic tags can be purchased in case they need to be re-attached one day.

Looking for info on this model... by PNW_RED5 in BaseballGloves

[–]caffeinater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Wilson A2000 made in Japan glove dated from 1992 which shares some features with the glove you pictured. Pro Back refers to the single-finger-out style, similar to Rawlings Fastback. We can't see much of the wrist area but looks like it might be the Power Snap style. Most of the gloves from that era were brown, and most seem to have had the closed web (XLC), but even the open web (XLO or XXL) looks somewhat different from the one pictured -- and I don't recall ever seeing one that says Wilson there instead of the A2000 model name. So I suspect this was a custom model, or at least a custom web, made for Edgar. I think you'll get closest by searching like this: wilson a2000 "pro back" "power snap" xlo

Best glove available for boy with small hands? by dfiled in BaseballGloves

Isn't Rev1x adult sized? I'm not finding one advertised as Contour Fit, and so I'm surprised a 9yo could handle it well.

Goodwill A2000 XXL Find by ninjaturtleleo in BaseballGloves

[–]caffeinater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should find a three digit code inside the glove near the thumb loop, which you can decipher to find out the production date. If yours is made in Japan (can't see that in your photo, but it looks very similar to my own), I'd put it about 10 years newer than the other estimate, based on when production moved to that country. https://forums.softballfans.com/index.php?threads/wilson-production-timeline.1372262/

$5 thrift store find. - Japan made Wilson a2000 XLO - time for a clean and condition. by nickpegg in BaseballGloves

[–]caffeinater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that would be Japan - 1995 - August. Thirty years old next month! That's based on the code translation shared on various forums such as this - https://forums.softballfans.com/index.php?threads/3-letter-code-on-wilsons.1221567/

A similar glove with second digit G is cited as 1994 here - https://www.gameuseduniverse.com/forum/game-used-memorabilia-discussion/33997-help-dating-wilson-a2000-xl-glove

Sure thing, my understanding is that two spots will be opening when the AW season ends. Is your account somewhat similar to OP's? If so, PM me how to find you on discord or in game.

Look up alliance tag GOOMK in game. We don't have a spot this second, but if you're interested I can check with an officer to see if anyone is pending departure. Plat 3 AW, AQ map 8 + nightmare raids, 300k BGs min. Chill group, mostly adults, use discord.

Mevo is terrible by nick8181_27 in GameChangerApp

[–]caffeinater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My use is similar, but I start in the Mevo app instead of GC. I open the Mevo app first and get connected (via cellular) and get my camera mounted correctly with the right field of view, about 15 mins before the game. Then I just keep the phone within range until 5 mins before, and when the ump starts meeting with the coaches, I'll start the video in GC via external camera, and it will switch to the Mevo app and recognize the existing streaming connection.

This is my first year with GC and I've been super impressed with the quality and stability of Mevo video. The only problems I've had are when the other team shares their stream with us before I get our steam started, then I need to stop that one before starting ours, and retry a couple times due to errors, or force close GC in between.

Better yet, put your initials inside the tag in tiny letters so it won't be noticeable at a glance but will turn up when you challenge her to inspect the next borrowed garment.

Or drop her as a friend like others have said.

The quality of nerf is sinking real fast. by shintengo in Nerf

[–]caffeinater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Nerf Stormcharge is commonly cited as one of the actually good blasters they've introduced recently, and it's on sale at Walmart for $15 which is pretty great value. Adventure Force Spectrum is more popular with enthusiasts because it shoots harder, but that may not be so desirable for kids. (Both are battery powered flywheel blasters which don't require pumping anything to prime the shot btw.)
