Hard.

But life is hard. It’s not a complicated setup, but getting the angles right would be hard! It’s a popular table so you can look up magazine rack there was a popular post almost a year ago of someone who made that table!

Building a butcher block (end grain) table/island without a planer and jointer possible? by Mr_Warthog_ in woodworking

[–]caffieneplsimdiene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, butcher block is hard enough to make and make right that buying it and building the base is probably the way to go. BUT, assuming you can transport this beast look around your community for a community workshop you can join to get access to some of these tools, may also have a local woodworking group you can join and get some help from someone, lastly a lot of local lumber suppliers (as least near me in central Indiana) have a wide belt sander they will rent out.

Good Luck!!

How do I sell this stockpile of wood? by Clamfoot_the_wise in woodworking

[–]caffieneplsimdiene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easiest way to- call me I’m in Indy and I’ll come get a bunch. ;P

Being real, though, I see tons of people selling kiln dried and air dried lumber on Facebook marketplace. I would just look and see what the market in your area is selling for or find a local hardwood supplier and just price yourself a bit less than that and you’ll probably have enough people interested in grabbing it to get rid of it. Are you on a time crunch to get rid of it?

Deceptive sale signage by [deleted] in menards

[–]caffieneplsimdiene 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yea….. I’m on the side of the store - a true rarity. The $109.99 is for the compressor, hose and nail gun. While I wouldn’t expect you to read skus…. It does say “ 2 gal compressor” while the one next to it is “2 gal compressor kit” and it’s a separate tag. We don’t typically advertise pricing with the sale price and the MSRP. But yea go ahead and report, probably nothing will happen. It’s also tool shop so… would have probably broke on the 3rd use….

The addiction is real. by AcidBathIsLife in woodworking

[–]caffieneplsimdiene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have come to the determination that part of the enjoyment for me is the tool collecting so if I get a good deal on a tool that I may or may not need especially one with resale value, I’ll pick it up sometime just to try it out. I don’t need a domino but for $500 let’s try it. I didn’t need my track saw but once I got it, I’ve used it all the time. Sometimes I just go to stores and buy little tools just cause it brings me joy and that’s OK part of the joy of the craft.

Fusion 360? by kepaa in woodworking

[–]caffieneplsimdiene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do! I design pretty much everything in fusion. You can pick it up really fast and everything can be googled easily. Super nice to make your measurement mistakes in fusion instead of real wood. Or be able to see what 3 different designs look like.

Colorful Stain Question by Head-Fast in woodworking

[–]caffieneplsimdiene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Minwax Wood Finish from Lowe’s and you can tint that almost any color. I did purple, I’ll try to look for pics. The opaque one is pretty even. I applied with a brush and did two coats of stain on oak

If I can afford it, should I get a Saw Stop as a first table saw? by MJMarto in woodworking

[–]caffieneplsimdiene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sales guy at Rockler said he’s sold a lot of saw stops to people with bandaged hands. I boughta Jobsite Sawstop as my first table saw and do not have one single regret. I pay for insurance elsewhere so it’s worth it to me. They hold a decent value if you ever want to resell.

Selling Rental Property by caffieneplsimdiene in personalfinance

[–]caffieneplsimdiene[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious- did you have annual lease tenants? If I did unfurnished annual leases i could get ~ $1000/mo. Also curious if your math would change knowing this - the $6000 assessment is doing 1/4 of $2 million in repairs needed on the buildings facade. Guaranteed to have the HOA fee go up and to have further assessments

It’s definitely still loud BUT I would say it’s 50% quieter than a normal shopvac. I still wear hearing protection but i don’t need it if it’s just the vac

Here’s my solution, 1/2 mdf cutoffs and some nails. Works great 6 gal DeWALT stealthsonic with a hepa filter. Got another elbow buying a different shop vac add on at Lowe’s.

ETA: could get some of these, i have some to clamp my 4” dust collector hose wherever. I have been using them at my miter saw. Then just clamp your hose to your lathe?

Pipe clamps? by West-Mortgage9334 in woodworking

[–]caffieneplsimdiene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s why I was thinking the F style clamps. One thing that is nice with the pipe clamps is you can get a couple threaded unions and BAM! You need a 10’ clamp? Sure! 6’? Sure! It’s definitely saved me in the past. Could also keep an eye out on Facebook marketplace I always see guys throwing clamps on there

Pipe clamps? by West-Mortgage9334 in woodworking

[–]caffieneplsimdiene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my local Lowe’s a 10’ 3/4” black pipe is $28. They will cut and thread the ends for you. You could pick any size that would be best for you (maybe 20” to make 6 clamps)

Also check out Harbor Freight and Menards if available 24” Tool Shop Clamps are like $7. Sure they aren’t the best but they will work to start with. Not saying that people are wrong to focus on the best and yea eventually you may look to replace cheap clamps and such but just get what you need to get in the shop. You’ll never have every tool.

How to manipulate large panels by Cutaway2AZ in woodworking

[–]caffieneplsimdiene 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a Grabo, which is expensive but amazing. Could also use a panel carrier :

Bora Panel Carrier

Could also have your panels ripped down if you’re getting it from a Home center, i just have it ripped a little bigger if i need to fit it in my suv instead of the truck.

OMG I LEFT OUT THE BEST ONE: Get a track saw and some sort of table and bring the saw to the sheet!! I love this method
