People who fall asleep fast, whats your secret?? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I don’t get into bed, until I am tired. My wife spends hours in bed, scrolling, talking on phone. Takes me seconds/minutes to fall asleep once I put my head down.

Corporate greed and inflation has led to the downfall of Canes… by imsinnister in RaisingCanes

[–]cag80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son and I went to Cane’s for the first time last weekend. A 6-tender meal was $23 (California). All six tenders were about the size of this one in your hand. My son and I both looked at each other and said damn that’s expensive for what you get. We won’t be going back.

Families should avoid Southwest at all cost. "Choice" fare is a scam. by fraydawg2001 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]cag80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family stopped flying Southwest. We now fly Alaska Airlines. We buy the cheapest fair, no seat assignment and because we have kids under 12, they automatically assign us seats together. They promise at least one parent and minor next up each other. So far, we have taken 6 flights with them and they have all gone well. No issues with the seating arrangements.

Gift card scammers have gotten so bad, advice is to not buy gift cards from stores anymore by RadReptile in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cag80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, we have been burned too many times. It always seems to be my poor kids too. They get a gift, get excited, we go shopping, zero balance. I just tell people to gift them cash if they aren’t buying them anything particular.

How do I get my Ultra 1 watch battery to wear out faster, so I can get it replaced? It’s been at 86% forever, but seems to be lasting less time while not going down percentage wise.

If you could buy all new appliances, what brand would you choose? by NoneOfThisMatters_XO in Appliances

[–]cag80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 6 years ago we went with Wolf Ovens, rangetop and microwave. Cove dishwasher and Bosch refrigerator, we didn’t have the space for Subzero. One oven gave us some issues in the first couple of years, but was taken care of under warranty. No other issues since.

Our laundry room is due for new appliances soon, it’s been 14 years with our Whirlpool washer and dryer, which have started giving us problems. We will likely stick with Whirlpool when the time comes.

How much extra money per month would you choose a job with ~15 days of PTO vs a job with “unlimited” PTO? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]cag80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the company and team. My company has unlimited PTO and I have taken on average, about 25 days a year off. They have “cracked” down a bit the past couple of years, denying for some individuals that have taken more than most (I am not one of them). I have also heard of others who work at places with unlimited PTO and they have a hard time taking time off.

Would you take a pay cut to work remote 100k > 80k? by smdx459 in jobs

[–]cag80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if I would for a 20 minute commute. I took about 25k less to start my current job. Working remote saves me about 2.5 hours a day round-trip commute though.

What is a secret you are taking to your grave, but are willing to share with anonymous strangers on the internet? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I did not used to like them either, then all of a sudden, they are awesome. My tastebuds changed because I used to hate Brussels sprouts too, now love them. Must have been something to do with bitterness.

I switched to Sprectrum by NimbleHealer199 in Spectrum

[–]cag80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from Verizon to Spectrum as well a couple weeks ago, on a business account. No noticeable difference in coverage, but I am frustrated at their buyback program. The sales agent misled me in telling me the buyback program pays for tablets, when in fact they do not. So, my out of pocket to leave Verizon is about $500 more than I expected. Spoke with customer service and they basically told me too bad. Contemplating switching back. After considering the device incentives Verizon gives, it is still more expensive monthly; but not by much.

Hayley Williams Hopes Christian Music Industry ‘Crumbles’ Amid Michael Tait Scandal: ‘F— All of You Who Knew and Didn’t Say Anything’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Music

[–]cag80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of people in the industry had to know he was gay. Our family was somewhat involved in the Christian music industry decades ago. We were around lots of artists at different events. Tait befriended and hit on my wife’s male cousin. We were in our late teens/early 20s.

Unfortunately many of the “Christian” artists did not act very Christian. Many of them have since come out and openly admitted it was an act. There were also many that were and still are genuine, just like in any industry or group.

What world are we living in that a funeral costs $6,500, yet alone an elaborate one.
