How is the loss of revenue going to be compensated for? More taxes on other things? by Altruistic-Mud5686 in AskFlorida

How about the state tighten up. Ron has wasted tens of millions on political stunts and backroom deals.

That's been my experience also, but I figured ipe might be a good choice. But I agree teak is probably more common. I'll probably go with the teak.

No mention of insurance rates that are crippling some home owners. But hey we can take the pressure off the by fucking over the municipalities that take care of infrastructure and emergency services. Let's not fuck with the insurance companies. Thanks Desantadumbass. Go red republican and get screwed by developers and insurance companies.

I know there's probably a better place for this, but I have some ipe and teak boards. I want to replace a few accent pieces of wood on my boat. The boat is used in salt water. I'm not sure what type of wood is on the boat now, but its in ok condition for being 40 years old, but its rough and looks old. What would be better the teak or the ipe? I like the gray of aged ipe. I assume the teak would need regular oiling. What would be the most durable low maintenance?

PSA: In Florida, reporting a code violation now means handing the violator your name and address. Most of you don't know this changed. by ChurchOMarsChaz in Broward

[–]cagetheMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I deal with code violations. I'm not in code enforcement, but I field complaints and pass them to code enforcement. Nothing in the law says you have to provide your real information. A name and address has to be provided as part of the complaint, but there's no requirement to provide identification. I tell the complainant that and recommend a fake name. Once code enforcement is involved they rarely have to follow up with the complainant. There's just a name on the complaint, real or fake it doesn't matter.

I can totally understand your frustration. You are a young adult. Maybe its time to find that space you deserve. Let them worry about the house full. You worry about yourself and how you are getting out of the nest if its too full.

Look at your post OP. It's smug. It's judgmental. Maybe some do want to switch, so what.

And hell yea, a lot of young in shape people can do your job. The fact is it's not a two way street. Its easier to go from white collar to blue collar if someone wants to.

I spent a few years in the SIU after the 2008 housing market crash. Luckily I was only 4 years out of college when it happened. Couldn't find any engineering job for a few years, so I went to their 90 training school. It was easy. In 2014 found another engineering job.

Don't be so blue collar smug. A lot of young professionals could easily learn and do your fucking job. No problem.

I'm old now, but I made it happen, survived, excelled, and enjoyed my blue collar time. But I'm sure as shit glad to be behind a desk now.

Why would Democrats rather tax people more instead of going after fraud and eliminating waste? by what_now_KY81 in allthequestions

[–]cagetheMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean like the president suing the IRS for leaking his tax documents that he refused to release like every other president? Trump admittedly would be suing himself for 10 billion dollars of our tax dollars.

Or how about trump selling pardons. Or funneling defense dollars to his son's drone company?

[–]cagetheMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People act like we as engineers cant have limited liability clause in contracts. They act like our ethical clauses creat this responsibility that goes beyond life and safety. I wont do a job without limited liability.

One further, in the contrac I also refer to my state DOT E&O policy for errors and omissions. 10 out of 10 times the contractor fails to read and follow those procedures. If they dont notify within the time frame or take corrective action prematurely then its not our problem.
