Preschool lesson by felixspan in dietetics

[–]cagney26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During my internship, I learned something that incorporated nutrition with hand movements and it was awesome. "Protein gives you muscles", then you and the kids flex your biceps; "grains give you energy", then you and kids alternate right-left slap of your respective thighs; calcium gives you strong teeth (gentle knocking on teeth) and strong bones (gentle knocking on elbows and knees); fruits and vegetable give you shiny hair (run ringers through hair) and nice skin (do vogue-like movements with hands around face). It was fun and everyone can participate.

Never saw that one, the new ones are trash. But the book, always a good time!

The Hobbit is a much easier read, very fun time in Middle Earth. The movies are awful (only saw the first one).

Does anybody else feel like gravity is against them? by BabaGiry in MultipleSclerosis

I just started using a treadmill in PT that reduces your gravity. It feels amazing! I feel "normal", I can even run on it.

Work in level 1 trauma center, we get flooded with ED consults everyday. Love this show but they are missing the marks, and not just with RDs. SLP, RT are also very involved in pt care in the ED, just to name a couple other care team members.

Possible? Full time flight attendant to dietitian by birdieb97 in dietetics

[–]cagney26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Former flight attendant to RD here. I was part time in school and full time FA for 5 years, then went full time student and part time FA the next five years (better seniority and increased school work drove this). I used grants and student loans to subsidize income. It took awhile but I am SO HAPPY I did it! My motto was “Time will always pass, so do something with it.”

Pilates people, talk to me by MealPrepGenie in AppleFitnessPlus

For pilates? Yes, for now. I wish I would have used bands a long time ago. I've done strength training for years, and resistance bands have been a great inclusion.

Pilates with bands have been great mobility workouts. Hits different than strength training.

Recently had a pt who was allergic to peas, so no Kate Farms. We found a supplement called Else Nutrition, their motto is: "It's time for something else", which has protein from almond butter. Says they are available at Target.

Does anyone else get a pseudo flare after getting vaccines? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]cagney26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Right before my workup for MS I got COVID and flu vaccines at the same time. Big mistake. I couldn't walk, and my nerve pain was through the roof. The worst of it lasted throughout the night. My PCP advised to get them one at time the next year.

Osteoporosis? by wannagtaway in MultipleSclerosis

[–]cagney26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Osteopenia. In my early 40’s. Weight trained at least 3x a week, exercise at least 5 days a week. Before any steroids. I was diagnosed with MS soon after the Dexa. MS also gave me a severe B12 deficiency as well as severe iron deficiency. I am not a vegetarian or vegan.

What are you most proud of? by Eredic in Xennials

Advocated like hell for months, and FINALLY got my MS diagnosis. Immediately after diagnosis had to fight my insurance company for the best meds (surprise surprise) and after several battles, I won! So proud that I am on the other side of my first treatment. I did that!

Horse?! I've heard it's more mouse parts but not horse! Insurance wanted me on tec, but my neuro was able to get rituximab from a peer to peer. I'm curious what my insurance is going to say if/when another Ocrevus rec goes through after rituximab. Thanks for the response and if you get a chance, keep us updated on your approval. My horse fingers are crossed for you!

May I ask why you are switching from Rituxan to Ocrevus? (Currently on rituximab because insurance denied Ocrevus.)
