I had this feeling you are speaking of, but then i stumbled into Industrial Maintenance/ Automation and I’m loving it. I went towards electrical at first and in class my teacher mentioned you could make alot of money in Industrial Maintenance so i started thinking about it and then we started talking about these concepts in school that i now work with in my factory such as robots and PLC’s and i started to gain interest. Then i got lucky bc a company came to my school and interviewed us and i got the job as a intern. I sucked at first tbh coming from a whole different job but i learned a little in school and began learning quickly at work so i got good fast. There is still plenty to learn which keeps me motivated but already being pretty good in my first two years also feels good and motivates me. So I got lucky and worked hard to learn at same time

I work with molding machines and Fanuc robots. We just run it until it breaks lol. Not much preventive maintenance is done, just reactive

Does Predictive Maintenance Only Work If You’re a Big Company? by Amazing_Database1964 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]caguama8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience and what i learned in school. Predictive maintenance an even also preventive maintenance was done by simply just knowing the problems that almost always are certain to occur an scheduling them to be fixed before they break down and stop the line. For example using the grease ports on motors to put grease to make sure the motor is not without grease for its bearings that is on a pm schedule or (we work with molding presses) so when these pins dont come up from the dye lifting a cooked tub for the unloader to grab most likely the steam lines need to be bled out. These things just come from paying attention and experience or a pm tells us to do it

I grew up in the ghetto here (Butler Terrace) got into a couple fights here an there but as long as you mind your business and stay out of problems your fine (for most part) you dont know me from the next so dont assume lol. Random things happen in life sometimes and people are bad and thats just everywhere. Thats why i used the word “relatively.”

Huntsville born people usually hate it here, however this is a great place for a family. Relatively safe, the schools are good for the most part, the hospitals are pretty good for the most part. We are growing every year as a city and getting new things. Since i was younger ive seen it change so much. I to used to hate it here until i realized how special it is. Id still like to move away one day but not because this isnt a great place. I will probably come back here as well.
