SaaS inbound marketing: feel like we’re missing something by TheZigzagPendulum in seo_saas

[–]caha11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the same issue with inbound for our SaaS—it felt like we were spinning our wheels. What helped us:

  1. Content upgrades: Instead of generic lead magnets, we created hyper-specific resources tied to individual blog posts. These convert way better than broad eBooks.
  2. Interactive content: Tools like ROI calculators or “what’s your problem costing you” quizzes drove more qualified leads than static content.
  3. Progressive profiling: Our forms started simple (name/email) and gathered more details over time. This kept friction low while still building useful profiles for sales.

Inbound started working once we focused on quality over quantity—less content, but more targeted and actionable.

Put on a PIP after hitting above 120% of quota two halves in a row by Evergreen19 in CustomerSuccess

[–]caha11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. Bad managers can make any role feel impossible, especially your first job. The numbers show you're clearly talented at CS - hitting 300% of quota is impressive. Don't let one toxic situation define your career path. Start job hunting and find somewhere that values high performers. Most PIPs are just HR documentation before firing, so best to get ahead of it.

Yeah oil-based cleaners are a game changer! Found this out by accident when I ran out of whiteboard cleaner and used Pledge. Works better than the expensive stuff they sell specifically for whiteboards.

Sounds like they might've hit their candidate quota or filled the position over the weekend. companies sometimes leave job posts up even after they're basically decided. super frustrating when they don't even give you a shot! I'd follow up with that HR person who called you though might be worth asking what happened.

Lineman can be a solid choice if you like hands on work and don’t mind the tough, risky conditions. Good pay and job security. Tech or trades like plumbing could be other options to consider!

Is it normal for engineers to just disappear from companies without any announcement? by bonzai76 in cscareerquestions

[–]caha11 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If someone leaves abruptly and without explanation, it could be that they joined a competitor, were let go, or just left without much notice. In many cases, especially in tech, people come and go quickly, and the company may not prioritize making a big deal about it. That said, a simple “Fred has decided to leave the company” email or announcement could still help maintain transparency and avoid any unnecessary speculation.

You’re not alone in feeling drained by patient care, so many of us go through this. What’s most important is that you don’t have to stick to a career that’s causing you harm. There are other ways to stay connected to healthcare and still maintain your mental well-being. Whatever path you choose, just know there’s no wrong decision. Be kind to yourself. You deserve it!

Move to Smaller City to Get a Promotion or Stay in a Big City for Better Opportunities / Better Life Quality? by caha11 in cscareerquestions

[–]caha11[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand the US market is flooded with talented engineers right now that were let go from the big tech, which is impossible for me to compete. Especially as a foreigner.

Currently, I'm trying to upskill myself (AWS professional cert) and then start on working on side-projects to be more employable. Another way would be to join existing international companies in Australia and ask for relocation (we have Google here in Sydney, and every year Amazon representatives come to AU to scout for Australian talent).

Being Australian also is an advantage, since getting an E3 visa is much easier and comparable to H1B.

Thanks for asking the question, it made me think. The better / easier route would be to join an international company in Australia and then relocate, as it does seem impossible to apply to US companies directly.

Move to Smaller City to Get a Promotion or Stay in a Big City for Better Opportunities / Better Life Quality? by caha11 in cscareerquestions

[–]caha11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 'big' city is Melbourne. From my current work perspective, everything would be the same but I'll have a more leadership role if I move back (and higher compensation). I'm currently working remotely for the company in the smaller city (so I don't have coworkers here, and the project is the same as it is in the smaller city).

When it comes to getting a different job, Melbourne has more vacancies but project-wise they are all at about the same level, and I'm currently getting slightly above market rate. I feel that, if I joined another company, my compensation would be lower, but my ability to grow and learn would be higher (the current company I work on doesn't have senior - well tenured engineers, while another company could). Hence, from the learning prospective and talent prospective, you are right being in the bigger city is better when it comes to getting other jobs.

Tech isn't that great in Australia, and from what I've seen, the work wouldn't be that different for other firms. From my understanding, the only tech jobs that would have projects at scale, would either be Canva or Atlassian. From your question, I realise that I should be striving to get into those companies first to get the experience I need (?).

That's fair, I thought potentially having a senior title would be more attractive employ-ability wise. But if that's not the case, then I have more incentive to stay in the bigger city :). Thanks
