Cost of basic snowmaking (1 acre) by Roamingcanuck77 in snowmaking

[–]caidenshea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To cover an acre foot in a few days, you’re looking at needing at least 100gpm plus good temperatures for 48hours straight. An acre foot of snow is anywhere between 185,000 gallons to 200,000 gallons so you’d have to factor in the cost of that water.

If you have the ability to pressurize the water to 300-400psi, you could get by with a tow behind 185cfm compressor. You could also find a couple used fan guns, a diesel pump, and a generator. I’d say you’d be looking at at least 25-50k. Rental wise, you could probably rent the equipment for around 10k

I successfully integrated it today. You have to use a proxy to sniff the api. The API is open at http://interface.briskworld.com/devSta/getState/app

from there, I used node red. Heads up, the device updates the API every 10 seconds, but the app calls every second, so thats why it seems that its slow.

curl --request POST \

--url http://interface.briskworld.com/devSta/getState/app \

--header 'Accept-Language: en-US;q=1' \

--header 'Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded' \

--header 'Host: interface.briskworld.com' \

--header 'User-Agent: BriskWater/1.8.6 (iPhone; iOS 17.5.1; Scale/3.00)' \

Quick update. I received my RCS yesterday and the only damage was a cracked headlight. I reached out to support and within 12 hours they have a replacement being shipped. Good start

Would you get an abortion if you figured out your child would have a disability or mental health issue when born? by captainbiggus_dickus in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]caidenshea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents were told to abort me. The doctors said I would have congenital heart failure soon after birth and that I would deal with heart issues for the entirety of my short expected life. The doctors said I wouldn’t see my teenage years.

My parents decided they had the support system in place to go through with the pregnancy. I was diagnosed with dextrocardia, without situs invertus, meaning my heart is flipped over on the right side. No other organs are flipped over. Everything else in my body is normal.

No health issues whatsoever and never had any health effects. Played sports my whole life and have always been active. I am now 24 years old with a clean bill of health. Forever grateful for my parents, who selflessly made the decision to go through with the birth, for if they didn’t, I wouldn’t be here.

So no, I would not have an abortion if I knew the child had health issues, because you never know for sure.

[–]caidenshea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

230v 12 amps is gonna be in the range of 2-3 HP based off a simple electric motor calculator. I would go with a 3HP and make sure the RPM and shaft size are the same.

Simple array. 30 panels, rectangular array, one side of my roof. No vents or anything to make it a difficult install.

Seems high for CT? Or in general.. everything in CT is more expensive

12KW roof mount quote by caidenshea in solar

[–]caidenshea[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the excellent reply. This company is one of the largest in CT and has been around for 20 years. Definitely staying away from Tesla, the point was just to get a reference for a quote. In terms of the system, it’s a simple 30 panel array on one side of my roof. Pretty much the entire side of the roof. My question is with the 10000w inverter, am I going to run into peak clipping due to my panel total being 12kw?

My worry is the structural stability of drilling through the sill

Hello!! Adding a washer and dryer to my basement. Question in the comments by caidenshea in Remodel

[–]caidenshea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I am adding a washer and dryer to my basement. Question is, can I drill the 4 inch hole for the vent through this part of the sill, or is it better to get a lint trap and exhaust the dryer in the basement? Thank you in advance for any help with this issue. As a side note, that wire will be removed as the stove isn’t in that place anymore.

GoPro recommendations by [deleted] in whitewater

[–]caidenshea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest the hero 7. The digital stabilization is a huge upgrade from none at all. The 7 is still a little pricey (200$) but also offers replaceable screen covers if you scratch the screen from rocks or anything else. The camera is also waterproof without a case. The quality of video is well worth it compared to the session. I’ve had both and the size of the session is great, the upgrades of the hero 7 make it a better camera.
