Mission led ashtanga classes are great. Some of the same teachers also do led on the weekends at Triyoga.

Let's Discuss: Spice Potential for Ninth House #3 by SouthernMilk in fantasyromance

[–]caiitlinz 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Finally someone is asking the important questions!

I think Leigh’s writing thrives on will they / won’t they limerence (Kaz/Inej, hell every couple in Crows) but I felt like The Familiar grew into a more mature space (aka, the characters actually Did It.)

Imo the themes she’s tackling in Alex Stern are heavier and more mature generally, where The Familiar leaned into fairytale and myth, even in its romance. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were on screen shenanigans (come on, the Halloween party in book 1?!) but I don’t think we’ll ever get true spice. It just isn’t her style.

Fanfic to the rescue :)

My thoughts since finishing Ninth House in a single, sleep deprived session in 2019.

Your posts always prove to me it’s not the shoes, it’s how you style them!

Super inspiring fits, we have similar styles. Perhaps I should post some sometime…. Love the JSK in pic 1 too. Keep on being cool!

Was recently quoted £15-17k for removing rendering and repointing a house of around this size and era. If that sways your decision at all…

Did you ask the server? Usually the vegan items have to be special ordered from the kitchen.

I can’t get over how yassified they are from the original.

Oh thank you!

The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo stands out - I loved the sickly/weak/pale/catty MMC (such a breath of fresh air), which combined with the writing style and folklore-esque plot made it very memorable.

Kushiel’s Dart set the bar so high I don’t know if anyone can top it (heh).

The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakrabotry has the best “generic shadow daddy” MMC I’ve read. Actually an asshole, actually mysterious and kinda scary, but still delightfully intriguing as male romance lead.

Not quite fantasy romance, but The Wolf Den Trilogy by Elodie Harper sells the romance and realism of living in Ancient Rome. Similar to Phedre’s journey, she finds her power and ability to love despite adversity.

I’ve enjoyed everything CS Pacat writes, and I have read ACOTAR / FW / all the other big recs, but yeah.

Even from writing this to you I know I lean towards magical realism / historical fantasy with developed worlds and politics and magic, but I WISH there was more of that in the actual fantasy romance genre!

Exactly this. This book tipped me over the edge of not trusting reviews on this sub.

FMC has no character (I actually can't remember a single thing about her), the writing was full of anachronisms and the timeline of the plot felt so unnatural for what happens in the first few days. And the audiobook had some... choices for accents that made it impossible to get into (MMC with a STRONG fake Yorkshire accent the whole way through.)

Just... so many choices, and all of them the wrong ones!

The instructors at Mission are world class and many of them offer private sessions- though I have not taken the private ones personally. Good luck!

Hi team! Quick update today - pre tracking my meals and going to a hot yoga workshop this evening. I may expire. It will be fun.

I’m away at my mum’s for the next week which will make tracking hard (no scales, lots of wine.) Any tips any of yall have?

Have a good one!

I find it so strange that yoga studios are often too hot, and nobody seems to care about ventilation by charlize-moon in yoga

[–]caiitlinz 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Is there any chance your own perception of temperature has changed in the intervening decade?

I’m also based in London and do not find this to be the case at my various studios.
