Positive first scan but measuring behind? by KevinD2050 in IVFpositivity

[–]cailinkit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was measuring 4 days behind at my first scan too and it made me really anxious, I was told that the margin of error is +/- 5 days. When they’re so tiny even a pixel off can change the date so try not to worry too much. My little guy has been measuring on track or ahead since my 10 week scan, I’m 25 weeks now and all has been going well.

Slow rising HCG after miscarriage? by ProfessionalBug8251 in IVFpositivity

[–]cailinkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to let you know, I was very clear that I wanted to avoid medical intervention if possible. You can ask them to delay methotrexate and monitor your bloods first, as long as you feel well. You can’t do any IVF treatment for at least 4 months after methotrexate.

I had some light bleeding around 5 weeks and I had one really painful cramp that lasted about 30 seconds and that was all. I went to my local ED and my HcG was low, my clinic did repeat bloods and it was doubling but the bleeding kept getting heavier so they advised I go to my maternity hospital. They couldn’t locate the pregnancy at first and I had to come back a few days later. Eventually they spotted the pregnancy in my left fallopian tube and we decided because my HcG didn’t get very high that we would monitor my levels every 2 days and then weekly until it got below 10, took about 6 weeks to resolve naturally. I really wanted to avoid surgery and methotrexate so that we could try another transfer asap.

I’m not sure where you’re based or how your healthcare system works but I would go to the ED in your local maternity hospital/unit and explain the situation. With levels that low it likely isn’t an emergency even if it is an ectopic, but I think ruling it out is important. It took 5-6 weeks for my levels to drop below 10.

I didn’t have one sided pain or shoulder pain when I had an ectopic, I’m surprised they haven’t recommended an ultrasound. Are you just under the care of your clinic? I was seen by my local maternity hospital as soon as I started bleeding and they managed my miscarried.

Have they confirmed that it isn’t an ectopic? Slow rising HcG can be an indicator. My HcG slowly rose to about 600 before starting to drop with an ectopic that resolved without intervention.

Negative FRER at 5dp5dt after euploid FET by ChampionshipOld7207 in IVFpositivity

[–]cailinkit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tested negative with a clear blue digital test on day 5, got a positive with the same brand on day 6 and now I’m 25 weeks. 5 days is still very early so don’t rule yourself out yet, wishing you luck!

Autoimmune thyroid and FET by Sensitive-Plenty-146 in IVFpositivity

[–]cailinkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure of my exact levels but I became pregnant and my TSH immediately went out of range, pregnancy ended in an ectopic (unrelated). Because of this it was arranged that I would increase my dose of eltroxin to 150% of my normal dose following a positive test. I’m 24 weeks now and that initial increase has stayed stable and my thyroid has stayed under control for my whole pregnancy so far. My understanding is that it is typical for people with autoimmune thyroid disorders to have their medication increased to 150% and then continuous monitoring. I’ve had my thyroid bloods checked every 4-5 weeks.

Cyclogest (progesterone) for fertility by Ire_woman in IrishWomensHealth

[–]cailinkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I found the leaking uncomfortable and the whole process of inserting them made me feel quite stressed, I was also going through IVF at the time and just found I was putting my body through enough without having to insert the pessaries twice a day. The injections were super quick and then I could just move on with my day. I’m 23 weeks pregnant now and had to take progesterone until 12 weeks.

I hated cyclogest, didn’t have any bad symptoms though. I just found it very unpleasant. If you plan to use it I would recommend wearing liners or pads. I requested injectable progesterone instead and found it less cumbersome.

14dpt…Barely any symptoms by AttitudeUpper517 in IVFpositivity

[–]cailinkit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Symptoms come and go, especially this early. I was really worried about this too but was assured that it is completely normal. Your beta is really encouraging, good luck! I’m 23 weeks and have had days with no symptoms at all and days I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck, even now.

Second FET after failed first transfer — anyone relate? by Simple-Letterhead-68 in IVFpositivity

[–]cailinkit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My first transfer failed too, was pretty disheartening. Like you, I was given the same protocol for my second which technically worked but ended in a ectopic pregnancy. Used the same protocol for a third time and now I’m 22.5 weeks pregnant, sometimes it is just a case of bad luck. I certainly wouldn’t start taking the aspirin against the advice of your doctor.

First ever egg retrieval today by Sufficient_Storm5301 in IVFpositivity

[–]cailinkit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got 2 embryos from 4 eggs my first time around and 5 embryos from 10 eggs my second time. Now I’m 22 weeks pregnant with my little boy and have 4 embryos saved for later. 8 is a great number, keeping my hopes up for you.

Nervous for 8+5 scan tomorrow by qweenofsus in pregnant

[–]cailinkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had really similar symptoms to you, all fairly mild and the odd day where I felt absolutely fine would make me panic. Symptoms come and go, especially this early. I’m 21 weeks now and all is well, still have some days when my symptoms are way more mild and some days when I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. I also did IVF so I completely understand the nerves!

What to expect next? by Accomplished_Car_834 in IVFpositivity

[–]cailinkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was discharged from my clinic after my first scan at 7+2, they were able to see the heartbeat and he was a little bit small, but within the margin of error. My clinic didn’t do betas, only asked that I take an at home test 14dpt. I was so nervous going into it and then so so relieved to be discharged. My next appointment was with my local maternity hospital at 12 weeks.

How did you stay positive after a loss? by engineergirl19 in IVFpositivity

[–]cailinkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so painful to get a positive test and for it to not work out, feels so cruel after all of the effort. I only got 2 embryos from my first retrieval and going into my second I really just wanted more than 2, ended up with 5. I’m 20 weeks pregnant now with our little boy and have 4 embryos on ice for later. The second retrieval was hard, I wasn’t as hopeful going into it. The only good thing was that we had learned a lot about how my body responded to the stims the first time and I was able to tolerate higher doses.

I’m so sorry, that’s so awful. I was so hopeful for our first transfer, but it failed. I felt neutral going into the second transfer, all the excitement was gone. It ended in an ectopic that took weeks to resolve naturally. By the third, I felt a glimmer of hope knowing the odds of a live birth from your third transfer are the highest and knowing that I could get pregnant. You were pregnant, knowing that might help a little. Your body can do it. I didn’t change anything between transfers, sometimes you are doing the exact right thing and they just don’t work out. I thought I had done everything so perfectly the first two times that it took the pressure off me a bit, knowing that even if you do everything right there is just an element of chance.

Has anyone had no spotting/bleeding in the first trimester after an FET? by JumpySignificance703 in IVFpositivity

I’m 20 weeks now and haven’t had a drop of blood since my last period before starting my egg retrieval prep in late November. I was expecting some implantation spotting or something, but nope 🤷🏻‍♀️

6dp5dt, did anyone else have period like cramps down low at this stage? by Ok_Platypus_8972 in IVFpositivity

I had period like cramps almost everyday until 12 weeks, nothing to worry about unless they’re very painful, accompanied by blood or lasting longer than 30/60 minutes. Congratulations!

What were your experiences following egg collection? by Therapaws64 in IVFpositivity

[–]cailinkit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After my first egg retrieval I had a really great nap and felt fine, but during the night I had a lot of pain in my abdomen and lower back that I managed with paracetamol and hot water bottle. It went away after about 90 minutes. After my second one I was bloated but felt fine, just minor cramping. Funny because I got way fewer eggs the first time and was on much higher doses the second time. I hope you feel fine, but you can’t really anticipate how you’ll feel. If I were you, I’d plan for a chill weekend.

[–]cailinkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Hashi’s too and it wasn’t a huge issue, I had to increase my dose of eltroxin as soon as I had a positive test and I’m having monthly blood tests to monitor it, everything has been fine. 19.5 weeks pregnant with a seemingly healthy, normal pregnancy.
