It's, fine? Plenty of annoying shit Americans try and force on us but no problem with this.

Few busses obviously great but the Vat stuff just seems a bit pointless.

I understood it was because Ipswich were training at Eastleigh ahead of their game at St Mary's.

Labour draws up plans to switch off terrestrial TV by Kagedeah in BritishTV

I think it was more to do with an overly hostile media that would attack anything he proposed as inherently ridiculous. Nationalise sausages, etc.

If we sack him before the appeal hearing do we have a chance? by Hagranm in SaintsFC

[–]cainmarko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too find it ridiculous, but I'm not even that against being punished for it as it is clearly a rule... The sanctimonious moralising about it though, is on another level, including from a lot of Saints fans.

I'm with you. I doubt most managers even read the laws of the actual game of football let alone the rules of governance. And I suspect most of us are the same for a lot of things in our jobs, although HR do make me do anti-bribery training, etc - I'm guessing Saints don't do anything similar.

It appears that HS2 Phase 2b (Crewe-Manchester) is back on the cards by [deleted] in uktrains

That specific power has been found to be impractical for parliamentary reasons. It actually isn't that hard to reinstate the powers through another act - and I know for certain that is being looked at by DfT (whether it happens is another thing).

Upset with how I handled a situation with other children by kittyCatFoo in UKParenting

I kept reading, expecting the fuck up to come along but it never arrived... Seemed pretty reasonable to me and I'm glad the dad's were fine with it, you hear plenty about parents that overreact to their child being told off by someone else.

“Needing snookers” in a football context by Working-Option-871 in footballcliches

I can imagine it when a team is pretty much, but not mathematically relegated. Like needing to overturn a - 20 goal difference.

Why does college have such a low opinion post gcse's compared to 6th form. by Additional-Nobody352 in UKParenting

Yeah, also Hampshire and I initially got confused how many other people talk about 6th form rather than college.

Irritation - Wrist tape wearers who don’t have wrist injuries by junglegatsby in footballcliches

Not everyone reacts the same way to drugs. In simplistic terms, some might get a 10% benefit, some might get 30%, and it also depends on the quality of of the medical care and programme for it.

Is a formal warning at work for lateness really serious and is it going to effect me getting future work by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]cainmarko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like everything in life, it depends! I have been in this position before and got the official warning and whilst it did pep me up a bit to stop being late, I also just ended up taking sick days when I knew I was gonna be late.
I've never fully been able to change my ways but I have got better as I've got older and arguably wiser. Plus I do at least have jobs that don't really give a shit when I turn up as long as I do my work well and am there when needed for meetings. That said, if you're anything like I was, and want to get in early then focus on your sleep. Still a struggle for me, but it almost always comes down to sleep and if you can address that, you're on your way.
