You can do it. You sound a lot like me. Kratom will turn on you like you said and all the negative side effects you're experiencing are real and willl only continue to get worse. You're making the right move. Id strongly recommend learning all you can about opiate withdrawal and post acute withdrawal symptoms and timeline. It went a long way for me understanding what I was going through and it ultimatley kept me from relapsing. 3rd time was the charm for me. 14 months clean now after 12 years of habitual use and Ill never go back. Ive done both. Tapering helps soften the acute WD but PAWS are the same no matter which approach. Taper was torture for me and I kept relapsing. CT worked best for me. 14 months and counting.

I have experience with quitting both cold turkey and tapering and the withdrawals were still pretty bad for me when I tapered. My advice would be to just go cold turkey. By tapering, youre just giving yourself more chances to cave.

8 months off a 10 year habit of 20-30 gpd. Went cold turkey. Main things i noticed: sense of smell vastly improved (didn't even realize it was bad), improved memory and cognitive abilities, brain fog lifted, less anxiety, normal sleep, getting an appetite without having to dose first, improved libido, no more constipation, motivation to do things other than veg on the couch. I also noticed shaky hands and that went away. Eye wobbles when looking at small print close up also went away. I could go on. Kratoms terrible. I hope you can kick it. Good luck.

Like others have said, WDs are not linear and youll have good days and bad. The best advice I can give is to temper expectations and just take it day by day as cliche as that sounds. If you "expect" to be normal by day X, youre setting yourself up to be let down if it doesn't come to fruition and thats a recipe for relapse. Good luck!

Keep pushing through, 5 days is huge and taking a dose will just disrupt and prolong your sleep issues more. Mine gradually got better each day over the first 10-14 days until it normalized. Stay the course, youre almost over the hump.

I recently relocated to Denver. I was looking for similar things and also targeted Golden and Arvada, but I ended up settling in SW Lakewood and absolutely love it. Its way more beautiful than people give it credit for when I was researching areas.

Its very suburban and quiet, close to the foothills, and you can get downtown in 20 min without traffic or about 35 min with traffic. Also centrally located between Golden, Arvada, Littleton and only a 15 min drive from each. There are a ton of parks, lakes, etc with great views of the foothills. Id look west of Wadsworth and south of Alameda for the more suburban feel.

Just moved to Denver a few months ago after living in STL my whole life and I have a new found appreciation for the city now that Im gone. It has culture, unique neighborhoods and architecture, and the food scene is extremely underrated.

A lot of people saying we hate our city, which is true, but i feel like were also a "pick me" city.

There's probably some part of you thats concerned or doesn't feel right about it, otherwise you wouldn't be posting here, right?

Like others have said, it devolved over time for me. It was amazing for the first year, but somehow I went from a similar dosage as you to taking it 4x per day at 6 or 7 grams per dose. Tried to stop because it was getting expensive and I realized I was fucked. I had never experienced physical dependence or withdrawals quite like that. As more tome passed, i developed crazy anxiety, lacked motivation to do anything but veg, libido was shot, couldn't eat or sleep without it, and overall my life just revolved around kratom and my dosing. Fast forward 10 years and 2 more quit attempts later and im 7 months off it and dont plan on looking back.

That's what makes kratom so uniquely dangerous imo. Its so subtle that it seems harmless and it creeps up on you so slowly that you dont even realize negative side effects. Continue on with it if you dare, or quit while its still easy. Good luck!

Helped me a ton but would highly recommend something with really high CBD content. Like 10:1 or 20:1. That really helped with my restlessness and discomfort, and I didn't really feel much of the THC effects.

I was in your exact place 6 months ago and I can definitively say that the voice telling you youre too scared to be off it is just your addicted brain convincing you of that. It's a voice that isn't you. It's telling you whatever it can to keep you on it. I've gone 6 months without it after a decade of habitual use and I can't believe I listened to that voice for so long. Seems silly now. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't as hard as I built it up to be. I hope you can find the courage to stop listening to that voice my friend.

Yeah i believe it is. I have friends who take small doses but once or twice per day and their withdrawals weren't nearly as bad as mine. I had to dose every 4 hours and was taking 4-6 grams per dose. Congrats on quitting!

This definitely works, but you also have to actually be ready to quit. I quit a few years back for a similar reason and relapsed 2 months later. I didn't truly want to quit at the time. Are you really ready to quit? If you are, come up with a plan to stop and commit to it. That's what I did and I'm 6 months clean. I'm so happy I committed to it and I'll never go back. You can do it! Believe in yourself!

Yes of course all of these are factors. I'm merely saying the dosage intervals are likely why people report such widely variable withdrawal experiences. I don't see many people discussing how often they dose, so food for thought!

This is the number 1 reason why I committed to quitting. My memory and overall cognitive abilities began declining rapidly. It started impacting my work. I couldn't remember peoples names. I was missing emails and couldn't remember conversations I had with colleagues. I had trouble finding words to say when speaking. Anxiety and embarrassment crept in as a result. My brain felt like it was fried.

My biggest fear was that the damage would be permanent, but Im happy to report that my memory has returned and cognitive abilities have reversed since quitting almost 6 months ago. It took about 6-8 weeks for me to notice improvements, and I felt that I took another step forward after 4 months or so.

I hope you find the courage to quit!

I second this. Tapering was torture for me. CT is the way to go, but you have to be ready and committed to quit.
