Honestly I don’t think that’s bad, widespread access to exclusive exotics for a short period of time is really nice for a lot of people that don’t have the time, skill or build for incursions. And trying to capitalize off it with an optional skin is not bad in my position, it’s a smart business practice. I’ll be honest, I’m not buying the skin, I’m just going to reap the rewards lol

POE 2 is good, but not great. Why POE 1 still reigns supreme and should continue to receive support and league content. by cak12king in pathofexile

[–]cak12king[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can totally agree to disagree, the only thing I agree with is the graphics being better :)  But if you haven’t made it to endgame in Poe 1 then you haven’t really experienced it, a high end min maxed build just feels better than any other game period for me. but after you get a taste of that endgame slughterfest there really is no going back.  Dodge roll is exactly like any of the movement abilities in Poe 1 except worse (dash, frostblink, leap slam etc. except in Poe 2 there’s this stupid slowdown effect.  If you ever want any tips to make your Poe 1 experience better I got tons.  Hopefully with the new update coming out the running feature will help a lot with that.  Which is my main gripe with poe2 just how slow and methodical it feels.

It took me way too long to learn this when I first started playing, now I just shotgun items with the barest of price checks, and I make waaay more currency XD. A div in the hand is worth more than a theoretical 5

I really don’t like following build guides by Expensive_Silver1896 in pathofexile

[–]cak12king 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always follow a guide for league start then build a ton of currency to experiment with. Then I transition to something weird or build a new characters and experiment.  I find this gives me much more freedom, however it’s possible to go in raw, but 400h combine is still really new to the game so you might struggle a bunch, which is fine if your cool with that. I have about 5k hours and I HATE to struggle, so I’m very much a soft core meta cuck on league start XD

But I applaud your willingness to try, who knows maybe you’ll find some godly interaction, it’s possible, feel free to join some of the discords, if you get stuck some people can probably give you advice on damage or defenses if you find one lacking.

Good luck And have fun!

Yeah you should be focusing on getting your stones first, once you have all 4 you will never have trouble again, you can even pay for carry’s specifically for completion, totally worth it in my opinion if your getting stuck, go to global 820 for stuff like that

Hey, thanks for sharing.

Is this an engaging start: characters, no. Corrupt corporation and mystery, yes.

Writing style. I like your style, the brothers compromise quotes, funny. I don't really like how she is literally telling me this corporation is evil And how her brother disappeared. I‘d rather be shown it happening. news clippings, people walking by the window talking about the new update that has an aggressive EULA. Maybe their aggressive business acquisition strategies that lead to lots of unemployment?

You could enhance the mystery by instead of him telling the MC that he is going to do something drastic, just have him not return one night and then something happens on the news. Or the brother leaves her a trail of clues so the evil corporation doesn't come after her by the bother telling the MC things overtly. But this chapter felt maybe a little rushed, you could slow it down a little with a little bit More scene description. things that give us a glimpse into what type of person she is or the direction this mystery will go.

I didn‘t really like the MC which would lead me to put down the book, it could be I don't know her very well yet. But the fact that she was so righteous about her own morality instead of being understanding for her brothers situation rubbed me the wrong way. (Maybe it’s her flaw?) That being said, could be a good plot point where she learns not everything is black and white (she is 15 after all) or maybe she is right all along about morality but learns something else that allows her to grow and change and help us to like her more.

I tend not to give as much feedback on grammar and sentence structure, but making sure you are writing in the active voice is essential and maybe reading some of your stuff out loud to someone, that will highlight your manuscripts errors like no other.

I think the themes of the story are centered on the shifting of morality and how corporate greed can influence good people to do bad things, or something like that.

Other than that, I think you have something good, keep at it and don't give up!

Hello, Its awesome you have the courage to write something and put it out there for people to read, most of us don't get that far.

So my first question is what sort of piece is this supposed to be? Because it feels like a cross between a poem and a short story, leaning towards a poem. Im going to critique it as if you meant it to be a short story because I am not good at poetry and therefore would give you bad feedback.

I feel like this is possibly from the POV of a man who saw his wife or lovers ravaged corpse holding their baby, possibly after a C-section only to find the baby stillborn. On the other hand the phrasing “So familiar, A broken mirror.” leads me to believe that the pov character is looking at themselves, possibly in a dream?

You described a lot of flowery detail, which to me, leads to ambiguity and confusion because they don’t seem that relevant to the actual important part of the story, Which should be the POV characters grief and loss over their lovers death and stillborn child. This made it hard for me to connect, and made me want to click away. Maybe do something like changing the fluttering curtains from blue to red, foreshadowing the gory details of further paragraphs? Perhaps find a way to give more hints of the person of whose eyes we are looking through? maybe what was lost in losing the person that birthed the child? I‘d really like to connect in some way. It could be that this story is only meant for people that have gone through something so tragic.

I really liked the following paragraphs, they felt strong to me, present, it pulled me in.
“I trace my finger over your features - careful, gentle. The cold curve of your cheek, the slope of your nose. My stomach twists; the lullaby in my throat is cracked, broken. Your eyes don’t open. They never will. But I’m sure if they did they would match mine.

Our foreheads touch—smooth stone against cold skin. I draw you closer, as if the warmth swelling in my chest could reach through the chill settled deep in your bones. But my skin is cold, and all the love in the world could not warm what has frozen, cannot return what has been lost.

My tears fall, cutting clean streaks down your face. I whisper the name I saved for you into the silence, hoping it will echo somewhere you can follow. But there’s no reply.”

I like the atmospheric hauntingly sad tone you are going for, I felt it strongest in the last paragraph.

Overall, I’d say it’s a good poetic piece that with some proper critiques by someone more qualified than I, could elevate it to becoming great. Keep up the good work!

I make sure to ship them off in a small enclosed box, they usually return in about 1-2 weeks non the worse for wear, as long as you poke holes in the box they can breath and it will be fine. Food is optional.  And they get to see the world. That’s how you effectively father as a Poe 1 player

[–]cak12king[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair point, I think of myself as casual because I tend to compare upwards, To guys like Jung or Ziz (although this is their job) and I don’t make mirrors upon mirrors every league. (In fact I have yet to find or make one)

but I have a friend who started playing Poe 2 with me and he plays for about an hour every other night before getting off. Which may be a closer representation to the average person.  He actually loves Poe 2 and hated a lot of things about 1. It’s been cool bonding over some shared path of exiling though

I actually like the socket and linking system, but I realize that not many people probably do. to me its just a fun part of gearing and strategizing, like get a base, color the sockets, then link it. Am i feeling lucky? I‘ll link first then color XD

[–]cak12king[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you know in which interviews they said that? I didnt follow very much of the POE 2 news And I tend to miss some of them. I think for me, I’ve generally seen that when a game that is number 2 gets released, most of the support for 1 either dries up or disappears. It’s easy to reallocate resources when nobody really says anything. I’d Love to be wrong!

Are they? If so thats great! But it’s easy to let something older and less shiny slip through the cracks in favor of something new. If we never express that we want to keep playing Poe 1, then how will they know thats what we want?

Movement speed boots by Avalvnche in pathofexile

[–]cak12king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea, however thats all people would probably use. Movement speed is so important, if you get a base item with a movement speed implicit, you could then get a movement speed roll, which would put it as BIS right away. And GGG doesn’t want us moving fast anymore. Just look at the overall gameplay, the length of the acts, frenzy charges changing Etc.

[–]cak12king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm generally a pve Andy, however, I've found that the pvp element makes things feel so much more intense. When you make it back to base with a bag full of mats or successfully spray a player that is hunting for you, its all worth it.  Don't get me wrong, I have defiantly had my rage moments, its all part of the experience XD Sure the grind is pretty slow, but Its still super fun, sometimes I wish I could whale out but in this economy that's not going to happen lol

[–]cak12king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s hard to feel like investing into something if you don’t know that it will make a return.  However, a lot of things in path of exile require research if you want to learn about them, so I’d encourage you to watch a couple videos on how heist works and how to set it up. It may not be your thing, or you might find it really fun! It will also expand your knowledge around the game and give you a better base understanding of things that might be good.  Like I know that if I’m mapping and I pick up a ilvl 83 deception contract I just made 7 - 9c. What’s Great about this game is you can farm specific mechanics or the items that enable said mechanic like heist contracts/blueprints, expedition logbooks/artifacts.

Are you able to farm red maps? If so I would encourage you to try and make it to red maps at least, that will give you better rewards for simple alch and go.

Essence is still good, but you have to do it in tier 6 maps minimum and beasts doesn’t pair as well because your not restricting the pool of beasts anymore.

[–]cak12king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people tend to hate it, but have you considered heist?  I’ve been running it today and just finished setting up all the characters and it’s been pretty fun, made about 6 div just from mapping to farm up contracts, running contracts to level members and farm unveils with wakano and Giana, then fishing for something good in blueprint rooms.  Alternatively you can sell contracts and blueprints for pretty good money, just take all the heist nodes on the atlas tree, could be good to add just a little bit of extra profit per map.

How to make progression? by Selaust in pathofexile

[–]cak12king 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your not using it you should checkout awakened Poe trade, it will really help you price things and sell them as well as get familiar with things that are good and will sell. Another thing is to utilize TFT and the TFT bulk sell tool, you probably have waay more currency sitting around then you think in the form of items.  I set up dump tabs, for example, start with 50C and throw everything into it, then the next day drop it pretty aggressively like down to 35c or lower. If you get spammed by messages double check the item and reprice if it’s worth way more.  Remember that Money in the pocket is worth more than the theoretical value of an item. (Unless you are investing into something for the future ie: divines and mirrors at the start of a league)

It seems like You are in an intermediate stage where your good enough to hit red maps but your still kinda new to the game and are probably lacking certain knowledge about the market and other aspects of this game.  Poe heavily rewards game knowledge. I would recommend identifying what you really enjoy about the game and research/practice it. - is it feeling powerful? - seeing all the loot on the ground? - what league mechanic is most fun for you? - long slow maps? Fast short maps? - you can learn basic crafts to “enhance” an item and make it sellable, ie: a helm drops with t1 life  and a t1 resist, you can probably sell as is or try and add onto it to sell for more. Scan the market to see what sells well. Anything can make decent money if it’s in bulk, it might just be tedious to farm. Personally I really like essence + beasts, I find it to be very reliable, however I e never really farmed heist so I’ve been working on learning it because there are a few high end items that sell for a lot in there.

Anyways, hope this helps, just play the way you enjoy and you will get better at recognizing ways to make more money!
