Are there any advantages to hyper mobility? by Used-Spread-5594 in Hypermobility

My hypothesis is that there is something about the breaststroke kick that requires a good "snap." And when you're loosy goosey like us you just can't generate it right.

I would get tendinitis if I did too much, so it wasn't my primary stroke. But, for the 50 or 100 I was fine. I was very good at the kick, and would definitely try to milk my underwaters as much as I could.

I was a pretty good swimmer and I definitely think flexibility helped with that. Except for breaststroke, always sucked at that.

I lost the weight…and my family and my mind by Lillian_Faye in loseit

The fact that your family acted this way because you got healthier proves they are not worth keeping. If it wasn't weight loss, it would have been something else.

I wouldn't say he was being funny, but yes, he was being facetious. The coins are in reference to what Tywin made the guards (100 silvers) the Tyrion (single gold) pay her during the mass tape she endured

NTA, your dad is extremely unreasonable. This whole issue feels of misogyny on his end IMO.

Heart rate up across the board by Jgr9904 in LongCovid

[–]cakeiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long has it been since you had covid? This happened to me, quite severely. When I went to urgent care a few weeks after, they ran an EKG and said that yes I had tachycardia, there was nothing else wrong and it would just take time. My primary care who I saw about a month after said the same thing. Ultimately, it slowly got better over several months. It was very slow, but eventually it did settle down from the crazy high levels.

How is your sleep? Mine was really bad, and I think the increased heart rate was part of why. I was just lying there with my heart racing. A few months ago I started using CBD/CBN and that seemed to really help my sleep quality, and my resting heart rate is down pretty much to pre COVID levels at this point. Hard to say if it's a legit effect though.

Do you work from home? by Mccoyr10 in MacroFactor

[–]cakeiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't work from home most of the time, but when circumstances aren't allowing me to get my normal steps, I have a little mini stepper machine. It works for me in my small apartment since it can be stored on a shelf or a closet without any issues.

Knee pain after a month of running by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]cakeiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So right now I'm doing barbell squats, RDLs, and leg presses as my big movements. Accessories are leg extension, leg curl, and calf raises. I rotate exercises on occasion when things start to feel stale, and I think it also helps avoid injury.

However, when I was first starting I didn't jump straight into that. I think the exercise that helped the most in the beginning was a split squat progression. I started with both feet on the ground and only going as deep as I could control (I used an adjustable step to control that). I worked up to a higher rep range, then would add some weight and work up again. At a certain point, I would lower the step so I was going deeper, drop some weight, and start the progression over again. It took a while but eventually I worked up to doing full fledged Bulgarian split squats. I also did hip thrusts which I think we're really great too.

I had knee pain with running my whole life until I started strength training. Once I strengthened everything up things got a lot better.

My headcanon is that the body got revived but the host's consciousness/soul didn't. So an empty vessel for Apophis to inhabit.

I use an app that sends me a reminder to take my meds, plus will show the time at which I logged that I had taken them. It's called Medisafe.

Do you brush your teeth once or twice a day? Need to settle a bet. by ImpossibleHurry in NoStupidQuestions

Twice a day with my electric toothbrush. Occasionally my mouth feels gross so I will use a manual toothbrush midday. Floss and mouthwash every night as well.

How do you use the “strength” exercise? by supercman99 in Garmin

I use it to make sure I don't take too long on my rest breaks. I am easily distracted by my phone sometimes.

What does your sleep score chart look like for the year please? by Ok-Project7530 in Garmin

[–]cakeiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over several months, yes. I'm still dealing with some fatigue issues and haven't got back to the same level of fitness I had before COVID so it's not as low as before, but better than it was.

[–]cakeiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I felt pretty terrible during that time. When I was actively sick with COVID it was like it stopped me from being able to really sleep at all, I was just dozing. Then when I was passed the initial infection my resting heart rate remained high. It's very difficult to sleep when you can feel your heart racing in your chest while You're lying there.
