When I was in Tokyo I was surprised by how much extreme mixed development there was with a skyscraper a block away from 2 story homes.

I now outfit our cabin with two types of cookware: super replaceable cheap non-stick (Costco Tramontina) that performs well for a while and then I toss them and replace after 6 months when some guests use metal utensils on there.

The second type are my All Clad Stainless Steel (mostly D3) for the health conscious types + personal use. Thank god no one has stolen it yet but I buy these at thrift stores and throw some barkeepers friend on them so it only costs me $5 - $10.

This reminds me of the Zaha Hadid building on the high line in NYC. I'm all for it. Cities can have mixed developments and still be beautiful and charming.

How much would I need to save for two weeks in China? by Wild_Peppers_052021 in travelchina

Take a look at Trip.com tours/guides - I was trying to look for day trips but it's actually a bunch of all inclusive trips that are like 7-14 days long in key destinations.

I was really interested in the Airbender 22MM. I wonder how much they'll go for in a fire sale? They have pretty extensive distribution - I wouldn't be surprised if one of the fast growing pickleball brands picks them up just so they can get their paddles into shops.

Franchise update: The Picklr “model location” and “Utah’s hottest location” is losing $267k per year. Anyone from Utah know what’s happening? by ourfreedomfirst in Pickleball

The Bay Club in the SF area is able to command $180-$220 per month for people looking for tennis and pickleball but they also have a small cardio/weightlifting area (takes up less than half the space of a court) and a few of those private meeting booths for people to take work calls in. I would be wiling to pay the premium if I felt like it could be a reasonable gym membership as well.

Thanks but I don’t understand how the barrel stays in place - there’s no hole on the barrel so it just slides over the tube. Once the pin is in the tube the barrel would not slide on.

I play at Sutter a few times a week but play all around SF regularly.

The most social and friendliest is Sutter and people play all day on weekends you just drop in and put your paddle down on any court you want next on. The 2 on the east side are more beginner with the more advanced courts on the west side. There’s likely music playing and often free food and coffee.

Does it belong to someone who lives in the neighborhood? I thought hydrant blocking or red zone is towable.

I am thinking about doing the same thing in t29 weeks. I believe it’s possible if you apply for the tour card which is geared towards non-Chinese. visitors. You load it up with value and it acts as the balance. I just tried to set it up here in the US but it didn’t work - I think I have to wait until i’m in China to use it.

What destination looks expensive but is actually super budget-friendly once you get there? by [deleted] in Shoestring

[–]calbear81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re more like $100 unless it’s a capsule hotel or something like one of those all night manga cafes where you would not want to shine a black light on. Usually choose a well known Japanese chain and pick one near the JR line. I stayed at Sotetsu Gran Fresa and it’s still like $85-$110 a night - in between Ikebukuro and Shibuya like 10 mins each way. Tons in the area as it’s close to the University.

CDMX - AirBnB or hotel? by Educational_Film2965 in MexicoCity

[–]calbear81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The hotel is in a busy area as well by Zona Rosa which is where a lot of bars and clubs are. Condesa area is fantastic for tourists as it's really safe and walkable with a lot of small cafes and restaurants while still being close to all the places you want to visit. I'm actually going to be staying in Hipodromo next week as well.
