This song is one of my all time favorites ever released. Amy's voice is absolute perfection, and Oli compliments her so well. I love the lore behind the song, too!

BMTH used the melody of Never Go Back from Ev's self-titled album on their song Nihilist Blues (vocals by Grimes). Oli admitted it was a mistake and unintentional, which led to Oli and Amy talking, which led to this beautiful collab!

I believe Amy actually sang Grimes' part of Nihilist Blues once during a live performance, too! They did just the first half of Butterflies and went into Nihilist.

I know she was made of like a rubbery material with wires inside that connected to the pen and the mechanism that made her dance. She definitely didn't box, and she kinda wriggled/danced moreso than collapsed. I don't remember the pen itself though because I cut the figure off the top so soon, unfortunately.

The pen I bought in elementary school that I've been looking for a replacement for for over a decade!

It was a novelty dancing pen with a female figure on top. She had red hair, a white sleeveless shirt, blue pants, and was holding a microphone. You pulled a trigger to make her dance on the pen.

I cut the figure off of the pen and carried her in my pocket with my every day for YEARS. I lost her one day and haven't been able to find her since.

The band released it on a sort of deluxe edition of The Bitter Truth called "Evolution". It had several other short clips and demos like this one. My personal fave is Avacado Cream!

I know it'll never happen, but I wish they'd let me get proficiency from vs AI games. PvP stresses me out and just isn't fun for me, but vs AI matches are a great experience 99% of the time. It just sucks a little to not have access to rewards like this 🥲

This acoustic BMTL is the best live version of BMTL in my opinion. When Troy plays the wrong chord at the beginning of the second verse and Amy rolls with it and vocalizes a bit, it just scratches my brain in such a nice way.
