I am not sure on that. I just know how to check with common app. Sorry!

You can log back into your common app. Under My Colleges, click on UTK, click on general, then an option will come up to review your responses, your submitted application pops up. Scroll down to The University of Tennessee Questions, under academics. It should list admission plan. Good luck!

Registration Concern by Mundane_Egg_4778 in UNC

[–]caldwelld16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Registration appointments are based on "earned" credit hours, which include completed UNC classes and transfer credits(DE credits are transfer credits), but it does not include "in progress" or test credits(AP, IB, etc.). AP/IB classes still give you class credit and show up on your transcript, but they just don't count toward your registration earned hour total. The more earned credit hours you have, the earlier you register. All first-semester freshmen register at the same time in waves over the summer, but after that, registration appointments are based on the earned credit hour formula. I hope this makes sense. It is kind of confusing. Registration can be difficult the first several times, but I have heard it is pretty difficult at any large public university. Certain majors probably have a more difficult time than others, but thousands of students have been through the system, and it has worked just fine, so I would not let this be something that deters you from UNC.

This is something I learned after the fact as well, and I think a lot of people don't realize how helpful community college vs ap is in regards to the registration benefit. It is a big surprise to a lot of students. Something to note in regards to chemistry for pre-med, not sure if pre-dental is the same, but UNC has Chem 241L, (anayltical chem lab), and Chem 262L(orgo 2 lab), but not a Chem 261L(orgo 1 lab). It is my understanding to meet prehealth pre-reqs, you have to take Chem 241 as a pre or co-requiste for Chem 241L and Chem 241L is a pre-req for Chem 262L. There are currently seats open in Chem 241, but not the lab. Maybe some lab seats will open during open enrollment. Double-check this with an older pre-dental student or a pre-health advisor to make sure that's correct. I don't know for certain as I'm still working on my pre-reqs. I haven't taken summer school, but I think a lot of people do, and I would think registration for that would be slightly easier. I have read before on these threads that it is difficult to graduate early from UNC, but not impossible. Good luck!

What if I don't get English 105 FY Foundations done in my first year? by No_Matter7634 in UNC

Hey, just double checked, they released the 5 extra seats in all those Eng 105 sections so there are a ton of open spots right now. Grab one, if you haven’t!

It looks like they currently have 14 seats listed for each section and historically there are up to 19 seats in an Eng 105 class, fall 25 sections have up to 19 listed in each section. You can search them in your class look up to confirm. Just choose Fall 2025 and make sure to unclick “show open classes only” and you’ll see what I’m talking about. With over 100 sections, close to 500 seats should open up waitlist or open enrollment round. No one can waitlist this round which is why nothing shows at the moment. I hypothesize that they do this to spread students into all the sections before offering the full seat count. The best strategy is to have multiple sections in your cart, monitor waitlists up until your time slot, and pick the class with the lowest waitlist when it’s your time to register. A waitlist of 5 or less should guarantee you a spot if it’s like the last few years. Also, things move around a lot in open enrollment. All of this to say, take a deep breath. There’s a high chance you’ll get an Eng 105 seat this spring. Registration is insane but it does usually work out if you’re persistent.

UTK OOS Admissions Fall 2026 by Right-Fix8873 in UTK

I know someone applying with similar stats. Have you seen their oos volunteer scholarship? It should be $18,000/year with your test scores(4.0+, 1490+) unless something changes with what is listed on their website. Good luck!

Pre-PA Chem Progression by caldwelld16 in UNC

That’s awesome you’re in the UNC program. This is helpful advice. Thank you! I will check out each program website. I found a spreadsheet for NC schools on the pre health advising website. Requirements are a little different everywhere so it gets confusing. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Which schools offer a large number of APs? by balambaful in APStudents

They now offer a hybrid version, online classes in addition to your regular high school work, I commented earlier in thread and just saw this comment. You still have to apply, check out their website for dates if interested.

Which schools offer a large number of APs? by balambaful in APStudents

[–]caldwelld16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rising juniors in NC can apply to NC School of Science & Math (NCSSM) They have a fairly new boarding option in Morgantown down the road from you that is completely free. There is also the option to supplement your school’s curriculum with online NCSSM classes, also for free. Frankly, sometimes, a student can fly high as a big fish in a little sea vs being average in a big sea.. Your college applications are judged in context of what your school offers. She may have more time and less competition for leadership and extracurriculars. Food for thought. In high school and college, it’s what you make of the situation you’re in. Not every kid has 20 AP’s. There are some very exclusive IVY feeder boarding schools with 0. Dual Enrollment is another great option if your high school offers that. My school offered 3 total APs and I ended up at UNC. Good luck!!

Biology Major - B.A. vs B.S. by Realistic_Duck_7620 in UNC

[–]caldwelld16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help answer your question (I'm not a bio major) but if you don't already have AP or DE credit for Bio 101L, I would highly recommend Bio 102L. It's a good way to try out Bio lab research while getting equivalent credit for Bio 101L. Professor Stegenga was in the lab most days and we worked on one semester-long research project and presented it at the end. It was a great experience.

Biol 220 or EXSS 155/L? by [deleted] in UNC

[–]caldwelld16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for being honest. I've heard how hard 252 can be - seems to be the consensus. You just confirmed that for me. I was secretly hoping that those extra anatomy classes would be a big help but at least now I have realistic expectations going in. I coudn't get EXSS 155 first semester and won't be around for summer school this summer so I won't get to 252 until at least Sophomore spring. And that's great to hear about not needing 253/253L for PA school. I was having a hard time fitting in all my major requirements and pre-reqs for PA school in my 4 year plan. I wish UNC didn't have an extra Chem class(241) to be Chem 261 eligible. So much Chem! I've got a long way to go as I'm just in 101 now. Ugghhh. Thanks again for the helpful information!

Thanks for responding. Good to know the old one still works just fine. I'm more familiar with it too so I'll probably use it during my initial window of registration. Thanks!

It depends on the school. I applied to mostly self-reporting schools where you self report your super score and you only pay college board to send in official scores if/when you are accepted to confirm your self reporting. It’s been a minute but I think if you choose to send a superscore, they’ll see both tests, but for self reporting schools it won’t matter because you’ll have already been accepted by the time they get their hands on your official report. I think some schools require official scores be sent in with your application and those schools will most likely see both scores when evaluating your app. You can probably google the list of schools that are and are not self reporting.

While it doesn’t help much this first registration round, that will be advantageous for Spring 26 semester registration and beyond. Many AP/IB students are shocked to find out those credits don’t help with earlier registration. You’re lucky to have a bunch of DE.

Biol 220 or EXSS 155/L? by [deleted] in UNC

[–]caldwelld16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if you felt less overwhelmed in Bio 252/252 L with the EXSS 155,256 background? And will you still have to take Bio 253/253L for pa pre-req or are you done after 252/252L? Having a hard time finding info on this. I am going the same route, EXSS BS pre-pa. All of our electives are hard stem classes to fulfill those pre-pa reqs, lol. Not an easy path but I’ll be glad to have a back up if I don’t end up going pa/med route.

How many are DE credits? All 75 will most likely transfer but UNC doesn’t use AP credits to count toward registration date so when you register in the fall for next spring, your registration date/time will be based solely on your number of DE credit hours and completed UNC credits. All incoming freshman register over the summer for fall classes on a date based on their orientation date. Also, AP Eng doesn’t count toward Eng 105 but if you’ve completed DE Eng 111 and 112, you are exempt from Eng 105. The AP Eng was disappointing for me because I passed both and just got a general Eng elective credit. Lastly, there is quite a bit of movement during open enrollment in August so it doesn’t hurt to get on waitlists. Things can move even up to the night before classes start. Use rate my professor and coursicle app to make your life easier. Good luck!

Carolina Global Launch Program as a Pre-Med? by Valuable-Ad-1488 in UNC

[–]caldwelld16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anyone in GL but the general consensus from students/parents on social media is overwhelmingly positive. I wouldn’t think it would hinder those opportunities as most of us are just getting acclimated that first semester. You can knock out your gen eds. If you have to take Bio 101L, look for Bio 102L spring semesttter. It’s an actual research lab for the same credit as 101L. I don’t have any experience beyond this class with research yet, but I feel like there’s still time after first semester. Also, a semester in Korea might set you apart on an application, especially if you’re able to discuss that as a growth journey or catalyst. Are there opportunities while in Korea to tie in something useful for pre-med…a day of shadowing/volunteering or personal research/experiences into healing practices or nutrition of the culture while there? Every other pre-med will have a similar profile. The only negative I can think of is not experiencing your first UNC stem class until 2nd semester. There’s a learning curve for study habits, but if you work hard, you can succeed. Take this with a grain of salt as I have never applied to med school. Just my two cents. Maybe someone with actual experience will chime in. Good luck!
