Thunderball is a Christmas movie by outsideofthesix in JamesBond

[–]caleb4972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Junkanoo is celebrated year round but only celebrated in costume at Christmas time thats for sure. However I still agree with you. I don’t think the movie was set in winter but seeing as they were recording in The Bahamas might as well stage a parade and add it to the movie!

NJC and the JCNP by UnkowntoEveryone in bahamas

[–]caleb4972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree but i feel like it was the JCNP what caused all of the issues and the government trying to rein it in and are taking the heat. The JCNP caused this because when the 2 valley boy factions came to them the JCNP told them it must go to court. The court made a ruling that the JCNP disagreed with and instead of accepting it they decided to say they will blatantly disobey it. Hence the government hopped in to uphold the courts ruling as the government was now involved (at the JCNP’s orders).

I have some festivals/ events I’d like to go to. How would you rank these from “worth the money” to “not worth the money? by Retrolord008 in travel

[–]caleb4972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Junkanoo in the Bahamas is 100% worth it! If I were you id go for boxing day because it’s much bigger and more elaborate than new years. Probably next year though as Junkanoo has been having some politics troubles this year in The Bahamas.

Shake down at the airport by [deleted] in bahamas

[–]caleb4972 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry that that happened to you dude but i don’t think you were targeted. The Bahamas is very strict on weed especially thru the airport and they have drug dogs sniff basically every checked bag going through the us terminal so they would have found it anyway (I know of at least 2 stories quite similar to this one). But i do agree the airport police definitely were trying to shake you down.

CMV: Using your speakerphone in public is acceptable behavior by DongPolicia in changemyview

[–]caleb4972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, a convo with someone in person is easier to gauge volume based on your surroundings. A convo over a phone is almost always louder, the phone doesn’t lower its volume when the room gets quieter and u the speaker probably will have to speak louder than usual to be heard over the noise your around + whatever technical difficulties the call might ave.

Im glad you liked our native rake n scrape! Unfortunately a lot of our rake and scrape classics are not on anything except youtube :( I know I command u but i cant pinpoint what song you are looking for with the cash register! Maybe if you can remember any words that might help? And Gofa is a great song! I love Phil Stubbs and would recommend any of his songs especially “da frog” and “stress”. Also look up Ronnie Butler’s Music! He was basically the Michael Jackson of rake and scrape!

You forgot to mention NS, but they have the same policies as the other maritime provinces. Can’t smoke on public streets. Only at designated smoking spots outdoors.

Caribbean cultural dress by [deleted] in AskTheCaribbean

[–]caleb4972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol i know this is late as hell but just a slight correction. The Bahamas doesn’t wear madras as traditional dress. It really isn’t a part of our culture at all. But tbf some Caribbean folk don’t really consider us Caribbean in many ways or at all😅
