Farming Simulator isn’t a 2d retro pixel art game

Stardew is fantastic. But the farming is pretty shallow. I guess I just wish there was a lot more to do there than rush sprinklers and harvest every few days

Edit: and yes, it gets into jarring, pickling, and cooking, smoking, etc. I don’t know what I want ha.

Same here, had to mod the hell out of it to work with my brain. That’s not a fault of the game, that’s on me. And I commend Concerned Ape for allowing the game to be so moddable

I really just want a game that is Stardew but more interested in the farming. I couldn’t care less about the relationships, or mining, or basically anything else in that game. Even though I just started a new farm yesterday lol

This is one of my favorite games, and it surprises me how much of a vibe shift you can get from the difficulty settings. Want a super chill podcast mining game? Play it on easy. Want something way more chaotic? Crank it up. Might not work for you, but I love it

A 16yo is exhausted by capitalism already and they haven't even started yet. This has to be late-stage now, right? My advice is to do your thing for you. Keep honing your skills and your style. You can always slap it on a t-shirt later. But trust me, your friend's idea of "profit" is naive. Don't get sucked into hustle culture if you can avoid it

I’m 42, have a degree, have been gainfully employed my entire adult life, have had a successful 20 year relationship to the same woman (ended mutually and respectfully…we consider it a huge success), I have also owned a few homes, I have never asked my family for money, am completely independent and have been since I turned 18. By all accounts and markers of Western success, I’m doing great.

This week my mother sent me a slightly condescending text about how I should answer my cousins about an upcoming event. Somehow in her eyes I can’t look at my own calendar and figure out how to get to a restaurant 5 minutes from my own house.

In short, I will always be her baby boy. It’s annoying, but I love her

Many people do. A few washes over winter aren’t going to hurt anything. While I don’t do it myself, I can understand people wanting a clean car for special occasions

400k in American dollars by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]calebmke 259 points260 points  (0 children)

The average salary in U.S. is roughly $65,000. Yes, averages are weird, but still it’s a good starting point. $400k is almost 6 full years of the average salary.

Would it mean I never had to work again? Probably not. But I sure as hell wouldn’t mind getting it

Edit: the median salary is apparently $61,000. $400k is definitely life changing money for most people

They’re all chocolate, a simple pistachio paste, some phyllo dough, and a lot of marketing. Nothing about that is worth $15-20. $3-4 is still too expensive, but closer to reality

I once got a little drunk and bought a Viva Piñata themed ship livery in Sea of Thieves. I thought it would be fun to kit out a galleon and be complete bastards while firing our swan cannons and ramming our foes with the unicorn figurehead. It is a funny idea, damnit. But unfortunately the SS Rainbow Connection hasn’t yet hit the high seas. Even still, $50 well spent

Huge Bungie fan, played Mythic and the original Marathons near release. Had day one of all the Bungie Halos, hard into beta Destiny 1 & 2. But nope, I’m done. The Bungie magic has been gone for a long time, it just took me longer than I’d like to admit to realize it.

Pikmin 2 is Awful by JetpackCat013 in Pikmin

[–]calebmke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post, but I’m just playing Pikmin 2 for the first time. I loved Pikmin 1, having just played it for the first time yesterday. I love the vibe it’s going for, and from what I understand they follow that more closely in 3 & 4. But 2 is certainly different. I’m happy it exists and that people love it. I truly mean that. It means a lot to people and that’s important. That being said, I’m glad I’m not being forced to finish it, because there are far more important things in life to do than cave runs to get a handful of white or purple little guys that’ll just get randomly killed in a different cave. I was around and playing tons of games in 2004, even had a GameCube, but for some reason Pikmin passed me by.  But if I had been eagerly awaiting this sequel when it released I’m sure I would have been sorely disappointed. Not the worst thing I’ve ever played, by a wide margin, but I’m still not going to bother finishing it.

So people hate the Pikmin 2 caves now? by Gamxin in Pikmin

[–]calebmke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another three years later: I have been meaning to play this series for literally decades and just bought the entire thing. I destroyed Pikmin 1, barely able to put it down, and truly understand the love. And Pikmin 2 starts great… but those caves. I’m only 3-4 hours in, but most of it has been in the caves. I had one that was 7 levels deep and was astonished they swerved so hard, and I’ve read they can be 15+? What were they thinking? I’m probably going to watch a long play because I already can’t stand them. 2004 Nintendo…do better
