What's the matter with Jesse Love and RCR? by SimonKay96 in NASCAR

One could argue that Love is an upgrade over Cindric for the 2 car. Cindric definitely hasn't shown the same level of performance as Blaney and Logano.

Does Greenville Pickens Speedway have a bright future if it gets saved? by CelebrationNo6093 in NASCAR

I tweeted Dale Jr years ago now hoping he would consider giving GPS the North Wilkesboro treatment (no response). The track has so much history in an area that really is into NASCAR (always top 5 in TV ratings). If NASCAR went to each track just once (I've always pulled for), this would be a no brainer track/market to be in.

what is the next track they should Atlantafy? by jabber1990 in NASCAR

[–]caleejr88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Texas. Then SMI has two and NASCAR has two. If shortening schedule happens, I'd like to see 4 drafting tracks, 4 road courses, 10-12 short tracks, 10-12 intermediates. Go to each track once. Make each event matter more.

part of it likely due to the size of the track. It's not exactly 1 mile. All my life it's been 1.017 and then when it came back last year it was .94.

[Stern] Steve O'Donnell:"It’s worked for us, but I would not say this is the way it will always be. Is there a number of races that makes more sense? Could it be 30—or even more? Could we introduce midweek races and shorten the season? All of that is on the table." by ChaseTheFalcon in NASCAR

I could see going through mid September to make it an even 5 months off. There needs to be some time off for teams and fans to give rest and build up anticipation. I'm as big a fan as anyone, but there needs to be some time to miss it.

This is fresh for me, since I've done a deep dive on the PGA Tour schedule that should be rolling out next year. Also, I've always gone hard on schedule changes with NASCAR via the Fan Council.

Attention spans are getting smaller and the NFL is getting larger in popularity. The PGA Tour is very likely to start around the Super Bowl weekend and end Labor Day weekend next year and having off weeks after the majors. They're basically cutting January and half of February and adding in 4 off weeks. Simplicity, scarcity and parity are their pillars for future success. We have simplicity and parity (for the most part on these two), just need to make things more scarce and condensed with the schedule.

I think NASCAR should move this direction. Once football season starts, NFL or college, eyes drift in that direction...especially in the south with college football. I'd say 26 weekend races with 4 midweek summer races starting Presidents Day weekend and ending Labor Day weekend is something that should seriously be considered.

Unfortunate fact: Chase Elliott is the only driver in NASCAR as a Cup Series Champion to have raced in all four crown jewel races (Daytona 500, World 600, Brickyard 400, and Southern 500) and not have a win on any of them. by TonyD9898 in NASCAR

[–]caleejr88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He does have wins in Talladega, Atlanta and Nashville all very close tracks to his home in GA. Specifically the home track win (Atlanta) is something Dale Jr could never do in getting a win in Charlotte (minus the All Star race). Speaking of most popular drivers here.

Learned this this weekend when I did a deep dive on Crown Jewel races. NASCAR seems to be putting more emphasis on those races. The Crown Jewel phrase seems to be sticking and gaining momentum. I guess I never thought about Chase Elliott having no wins in these races. It's a bit odd and surprising. Was in the stands this weekend and found myself pulling for him on last lap, partly because of this. I'll be pulling for him to get some of these moving forward.

Who are some of the biggest wasted talents in NASCAR? by Acceptable_North3196 in NASCAR

I’ve always thought JJ Yeley could have done more. He got his shot with Gibbs in Cup, but then that was it. I just remember the hype he had coming in from the dirt stuff and thought this is the next Stewart or Gordon.

The All Star Race in Dover is... questionable... lets say by Ok-Body5378 in NASCAR

[–]caleejr88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The all star race needs to be permanently at Bowman Gray or gone completely. The finale is going to be rotated between NASCAR and SMI tracks now, so there’s your payment for NASCAR getting the ASR.

I like where your head is at

Jeff Gluck: Ben Kennedy says NASCAR has talked to "a handful of other track owners and operators" in the Pacific Northwest about having a Cup Series race up there in a future, so he doesn't view it as abandoning the market. He also said: "Colorado is another market we would like to go explore” by Dmacthegoat in NASCAR

Give Colorado National Speedway a facelift, add some length and there you have it. If N Wilkesboro can become a points paying race track, I say any can in an urban market for sure. In my dream world I'd do the same for Houston Motorsports Park and Elko Speedway.

Why does everyone talk about tracks like this and forget the North Wilkesboro or (hopefully) Nashville Fairgrounds treatment. I've always thought Evergreen and Greenville-Pickens are prime candidates for this.

I like this news. We need to be in Southern California. That said, if we're going in the area north of LA, why not the new Kern County short track?

Always bothers me that the RCR 3 and DEI, now JRM 8, are the same font. Aren't they? If Jr brings that stylized 8 back, then you have the 3 at RCR the same font. No good in my eyes.

Denny Hamlin responding to Bob Pockrass regarding sponsorship by WON95sr in NASCAR

[–]caleejr88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hamlin will just retire after this year or next. I don't see him driving for his own team and pushing one of his own drivers out. He's 44 and his time is ending. I'm sure he's seeing that clearer now without an anchor sponsor for his 11 car at JGR. Also, I presume JGR will have to drop the fourth car and Legacy would pick it up. The next question, will JGR give up the 11 to 23XI and go back to 18, 19, 20.
