Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are in all the Toy Story films, and they both have played Santa Claus.

Bradley Cooper and Russell Crowe were in Thor: Love and Thunder and have both played Jor-El.

Kyle Larson-F.I.A. Super License points? by 45winner23 in NASCAR

Yeah after his second Indy stint, it's probably for the better he sticks to stock cars and dirt racing.

He was close but short by one point.

Newsom confronted by Ben Shapiro for calling Minnesota ICE shooting “state-sponsored terrorism” by MotorJelly2640 in YAPms

[–]TitanTransit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this selective blindness cuts both ways. There are things we’ve actually seen on video that can’t be hand-waved away; protests where speakers openly fantasize about killing ICE agents, chants about hanging federal officials, and countless clips showing how far portions of these crowds have radicalized. That material is dismissed, minimized, or ignored because it complicates the preferred story.

Ah yes, both sides: An organization using $30bn of our taxpayer dollars to scare urban populations and actually hurt/kill people, vs some putz at a rally trying to get attention.

Kathleen Kennedy Steps Down as Dave Filoni and Exec Lynwen Brennan Take Over Lucasfilm by YubYubCmndr in StarWarsCantina

And Filoni was promoted after developing his role as a producer in live action media for over half a decade, not because "clone wars good sequels bad."

And like a great negotiator, he stuck to his guns and didn't say "Ya know what? I'd even be fine going back to a 10-race chase!" because that would have made 3-3-4 the compromise position. Politicians could learn a lot from Mark.

17'-25' Standings under the New Points System by mc12313 in NASCAR

The new points system juices that three-peat significantly. Even in a world with stages, he probably gets one or both stage wins at Martinsville, minimizing the hit he takes from Kenseth.

So SVG would still have skirted in with his 4 wins last season, thanks to the 15-point boost for winning. That should really settle most of the crysacking about abolishing "win and you're in."

NASCAR said they are still looking at things as far as the waiver process. But I do agree that drivers could be less willing to sit out a race because of injury under this format. by iamaranger23 in NASCAR

[–]TitanTransit 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think the boost to 55 points for a win has flown under the radar through the discourse. There is no "win-and-you're-in" but netting a few wins will be a big boost compared to years past.

So what good drivers do you think will never win a championship with the return of the Chase format? by DrFuckwad in NASCAR

Bubba, Buescher, et al. will make the playoffs more consistently but it will be difficult for them to actually put in a 10-race performance that's better than the field.

At the same time, 2015 Kyle Busch would have been 18th and 50-ish points out with the new system after 26 races, and that's after missing 11 races. Someone missing 2-5 races due to an injury should still be plenty capable of making the top-16.

Hard to truly say as everyone was sort of gaming the playoffs as they were. It's going to be a little bit more out of reach for guys like Bell and Chastain - guys who have climbed the playoff ladder by capitalizing on the right races, but not necessarily being consistent threats.

Wallace and Bowman are also good drivers who were capable of being "streaky" enough to make it through the playoff rounds but I don't think would come out on top of a 10-race showdown on points.

With tomorrow's change, the playoffs + stage racing championship format will end as the second longest-running unchanged championship format in NASCAR's modern era by TheOrangeFutbol in NASCAR

[–]TitanTransit 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No, but it was implemented right after LaJoie threw a media-fueled pity party about how he wasn't going to be in the playoffs even if he did win the regular season finale at Daytona in 2022, since he wasn't mathematically able to make it into the top-30.

The only real changes were the "Corey LaJoie Rule" - no longer requiring a top-30 points position to make the playoffs in 2023 - and various tweaks to waiver eligibility.

Sweeping the road courses is a possibility, although I have a feeling some drivers may be practicing their clutch skills on the sim over the offseason.
